OMG!!!
Please stop saying "Yes the Cobra is fast but if I...." Or "look at this car it will beat a Cobra"We all know that!!!!
The Cobra is quick from the factory. The Evo is fast from the factory. In the 1/4 the Cobra wins. On a medium, or shorter, length road course the Evo wins. Great!!! They both win at what they were built for.
f.y.i. I consider Road America to be a long course, Mid Ohio to be medium and Moroso to be short for comparison.
Lastly for the guy who said he worked on a Mustang with frame rails 1" off in square from each other. The car MUST have been damaged at some point. The car never would have left the factory or at the very least the dealer. Can you imagine buying a car and starting to drive it off the lot. It pulls so hard to one side the wheel is turned 1/2 a revolution the otehr way to go straight? Would you just ignore it and drive away? No.

Um yes, the 1" longer wheel base was on the side of the car that was damaged, however the damage would have pushed the wheel base towards the middle making it smaller (it rolled over the rock backwards, and only with the rear tire). The Mustang only had 600 miles on it at the time, so Yes I say it most likely came from the factory that way.
I'm not baging on just Ford, Ive seen poor construction on almost all american made cars. Dodge comes to mind. quick example on that: Viper, damaged front and rear by bouncing off of a freeway guard rail. We replaced most of the front and rear of the car, when the body man was finished and the car was aligned (Perfictly) he had a 2" stack of shims (Spacers) that Dodge had put on the car to make the body panles align. Meaning when it left the shop, it was put together better then when it came form the factory.
We (Americans) have always made good engines, and nothing sounds like a V8, but the build quality of domestics today is down right shamefull.
basically this is what it comes down to domestic or import.ask yourself this?
1.which is more dependable and reliable?imports or domestics
2.is it true that 4 cylinder import can hang with a v8 camaro or ford ?
iam not hating on domestics because i use to love them but damn i got tired of taking them to the mechanic. lets be honest people the japanese are some smart *** people wether you people like it or not.i think honda is coming out with a v8 in a couple of years can you imagine how much horsepower they will produce ford and dodge are going to be going out of buisness.

I will bring in a slip where my friends 91 Honda Civic VX hatch with a GSR motor in it wrecked a GT (the hatches best run was a 13.9). And it is your opinion that mustangs arent bad cars, It is also my opinion that Fords are garbage; I know my mom has one and its nothing but trouble and cheaply done. Plus, you can take a K20a (or K20a2 i think thats the right number) anyways the K20a (JDM) starts with 220 stock you can do close to 300hp at the crank na. but in your defense i have never seen someone go up against a SVT Cobra they are prolly fast but honestly in my opinion from pulling other mustangs apart our civics are built better (not muc better, but better) and if you wanna here something really depressing my friend has a SVT Focus and I run even with him from a rolling start until 3rd then he has me my about 1/2 a car length thats kinda depressing (from a dead stop he has me by a full car length) I only have a I/H/E/T on my civic.
Great it ran a 13.9...my 93 LX 5.0 ran a best of 10.2 on the stock bottom end back in 94 and your friend probably ran a stock mustang that probably still had the stock H-pipe which has mind you 4 F-O-U-R count them 1-2-3-4 cat's.
All I have to say is take the Pro Drag Celica funny car and any number of the American Pro Drag cars and let's see who wins. Is there any import pro drag car that can make a 5 sec run's or better?
NHRA Career Records Top 5 Quickest Elapsed Times for funny car

Next did anyone go to the RCR Supra race in San Antonio? Does any one know what two cars were in the final...I do...they were both Corvettes. Funny the Viper was not in the finals, and neither were any of the Supra's. And the even more funny thing about it was that the guy who won also took his near 1000 hp Supra up there both of which are from Power House.
Once again I am not an import hater (Remember or even hear it for the first time I have aided in many of import projects, been to plenty of import drags, Solo II Autocross and Circuit race an import and still drive the thing to work)...It is just that when it comes to drag racing you can not beat the ridiculous potency of the American motor.
And BTW Honda's V6 NSX is already 80K +, what do you think the addition of V8 is going to do to the price...so no Ford and Dodge will not go out of business.
This is going to be a never ending debate and opinions are like buttholes everyone has one.

Pro Class Papa: 2002 Modified class runner-up Steph Papadakis, who has become a legend in FWD drag racing, debuted his AEM DriverFX Pro RWD twin turbo NSX V6 powered Civic at the GM Performance Sport Compact Nationals and was calm about the switch over to the RWD class. "I actually like it better. With the RWD setup, I don't have to cross my fingers every time I shift," said Papadakis referring to the transmission shifting problems that were the primary reason the Modified class FWD Civic could not better its 8.12 fastest ever E.T. The FWD Civic however is not heading for the retirement home yet. Big Papa plans on running the FED Civic at a minimum of two events this year. In its first public pass down the track during Saturday's first and only qualifying session, Papadakis coasted the Civic through the lights with a 8.586, 135 mph to lock down the fourth qualifying position with one session planned for Sunday.
See following two posts for better information on the RWD class.

I just did another search and found the best time he has ever posted:
2003 RWD Career best E.T.: 7.08
Date: May 3rd, 2003
Old Bridge Township Raceway, Englishtown, NJ
So even still then the time is not what you said.
Oh wait a friend just emailed me the latest news for the Las Vegas race:
Stephan Papadakis (AEM '03 Civic) 1.175 6.900 200.56
Still not a 6.7 sec run.

Last but not least, it most certainly does come with FULL interior. Oh ya. One last thing to point out. The 03 Supercharged Mustang SVT Cobra IS in fact a ZO6 killer! I have experienced this first hand. Do some research before you open your mouth next time.

To HondaChevy
Why the hell are you comparing Import funny cars to Domestic funny cars???
Number of stock parts on a Mustang funny car: 0
Number of stock parts on a Celica funny car: 0
catch my drift, a funny car is simply an engine, tubular chassis and 4 tires with a shell thrown over it. Can you really call it a mustang when the only thing it has in common with a normal mustang are similarties in the body styling and a mustang pony painted on it?
As a mechanical Engineering student i guess i see HP per liter in a different light than you.
If i was to tell you i had an 8 liter V8 making 200 Hp and 210 FT-LBS, would you be impressed?? Of course you wouldn't because given its displacement it is capable of making much more power.
Now if I had a 1 liter 3 cylinder engine making 200 HP and 210 FT-LBs now would you be impressed?? I know i would since your typical 1 liter engine can't make anywhere near 210 ft-lbs
HP per Liter is a measure of an engines efficiency, And improving efficiency is every tuners goal. Since you can't just toss in a bigger engine when you want more power. Most tuners including members of this website and myself, chose to make there engine more efficent be it through a larger free flowing exhaust, cold air intake, or even a turbo charger.
From an engineering standpoint, going bigger isn't always the best thing. Take a ceiling fan for example (im looking at one). Lets say you have a study room 15' long, 15' wide and 10' tall. And your current fan just isn't cuirculating the air enough. Now you could run to home depot and buy a larger fan or maybe just add another fan of the same size. Or you could research things like, number of blades, angle of the blade, blade size, design of the blade, at what RPM is the fan moving the most air. And maybe you'll come up with a fan design that moves 2 times as much air as your previous fan did. Now you have a technology that you can use in other applicaions or even make a profit off of.
While im not defending the ricers last ditch effort using the "Well my car makes 120 hp per liter" line. Don't pass off HP per liter as a useless measurement and a statement used only by the dumbest of ricers

that has been a rumor for a while but i doubt it also the hp per litre always gets a laugh out of me its screams ricer.

thats my point exactly you know what your talking about " got boost"
i have a question to you guys if honda makes a v8 and puts it in the accord and the v8 produces crazy hp and torq will you still buy a domestic.

I seriously doubt Honda will ever put a V8 an Accord or in anything other than a truck for that matter, & thats a big maybee. And if that, it would be extremely small & designed for pulling torque so it wouldnt be that fast, so youd still probably get better performance out of their V6 or I4, since thats what their good at.
Now a V6 that puts out crazy hp for a V6 in a light *** chassis isnt totally unfathomable(is that even a word?) , but that of course wont happen untill Honda gets their head out of their *** & starts making faster conumer cars for the USDM. But yea, if that happens I think I would consider it if I dont have a WRX by then & its not FWD.
Youd still have the endless domestic/import argument though

Why not get the best of both worlds............
Lotus Elise! its official, it will be coming to the states in 2005.
I say the best of both worlds because it has all the wonderfull suspension and handling that Lotus could provide coupled with a reliable Toyota engine spiting out 190 HP in a car that weighs 1665lbs (Unofficial, the US version may weigh more) thats Impressive!
Even the UK version of the 111S elise only has 156Hp and will accelerate the car to 60mph in 5.1 seconds 0-100 in 14 sec. So the Us version with 190hp should be that much more fun!!!
especially with an engine with readily availible parts (the Elises engine is the one out of the celica GT-S) all for a reasonable $40,000. I konw Im sold.

honda does not make sports cars it makes the nsx which is a car for people who wanna show they have money and a pretty car. i doubt the majority of people who buy a nsx drag it or use its high end power.

Ok Mustangs are very potent vehicles let it be the gt with its single cam 4.6 the 01 cobra with its dohc 4.6 putting out 320 horses or the 03 cobra dohc supercharged beast that outs out 390 they are all impressive but its not the car its how you choose to get that horespower yes if i wanted 265 or something aroudn there i could get a mustang gt but since i am a fan of imports i would rather build a small motor with a turbo or maybe all motor but dont knock the other side just cause you have one or the other american cars have different ways of making horespower than japanese cars they use bigger motors we use small motors and more enginering . so i guess what im trying to say is bolth sides are trying to do the same thing build fast cars so why cant we just all get along and appreciate each others work . Also whoever said in one of there post that nothing coming out of japan can touch a cobra thats not true .

i said that what car coming out of japan is going to beat a cobra on a track a nsx wont and skylines are not even made anymore. the rx-8 and z are cool but they wont catch a cobra.
