raced an SVT Focus in my Si...

So im cruisin in my 02 Si last night and this guy in an SVT focus in front of me is driving fast and crazy...so im following him...doing what he's doing, going where he's going...you know how it is. We end up next to each other at a stop light and then take off. I killed him off the line...then he got some speed and was gainin on me, but i kept pushin it. I stayed at least a solid car to car and a half length ahead of him. We went for about 1/4 mile down the road, and approached an intersection, so we both slowed down...ive had the car not too long, so this was the first time i really pushed it while up against another car on the road. thought i'd share a bit

Nice, SVT's are good competition for the SI, actually they are normally a fender faster than the Si. I would of gotten one, but the Si had a quirkiness that I couldn't resist. Focuses are nice little cars, and the SVT is one of the best bang for your buck deals you can get.

The problem with the SVT focus is the same thing thats wrong with the Neon, they look awful and cheap. Plus I wouldnt spend that much money on a focus. Honestly, my honda might not be as quick, but I purchased based on the fact that on the chance that it isent fast it still looks way better than a focus.

ok SI vs. SVT is mostly a drivers race. I don't even wanna know why you thought you would even post! I hate FORD so I wish every car could beat the svt focus but thats not the case. GEEZ.

i knew a guy around town with a red svt but havent seen him in months. last time i saw him he he was telling me how it was in the shop for the 3rd time in less than 6 months. Im assuming he got rid of it. If Im not mistaken, MasterVTEC has hondata so that would give the Si a healthy edge. I RARELY see any SVT foci, but rest assured if they try my si, I will give them a run win or lose.

i just want to race a car thats suppose to be faster and beat theam becuase there owners cant drive for !

MasterVTEC...if you went up against a stock RSX-S in the quarter mile, itd probly be really close. They are actually heavier than the Si...

now if you tried to race one from a roll...forget it cuz he'll smoke you. but 1/4mile you stand a chance...at least thats what i hear...

well mastervtec I'll admit if you took on a GT-S with a sorry driver with hondata you'd win. with another good driver it'd be close but you may still win. But you come up on a modded GT-S you would not win unless the driver sucked. You shouldnt be proud to say you can beat a stock car with a modded one. But if you're from around here I'll be down at the Cali speedway saturday. As will a bunch of other celicas we even have a couple GT-S turbos coming out. I'd like to see how much you'd win by so let me know if not then if you've got time slips post em we can always compare that way. Just a thought I happen to like the SI incase anyone thinks I'm hatin.

your going to CA speedway on the 26th? if you are i'll definately try to be there i want to race your Celica, what do you have for mods? if you have a turbo i dont even stand a chance but if you just have I/H/E i'll try to beat you if not its coo, i just want to show every one my Si is no joke, well.... unless i stall when the light turns green hahahahaha (like my friend ) and i almost did to! hahahahahaX10 a race is a race if you stall or not, or if you have a bad run or not, its all about who passes the finish line first!

whats your best 1/4 mile time ?

well I'm goin tomorrow for sure if youre up for the 26th I had plans but they may fall through I'll hit you up when I know for sure. My celica is bone stock but I might give ya a good challenge. it's service time for me too already put 5k miles on it since I got it. so if they dont take to long with the tsb fixes then I should be at full potential by the 26th I'm gonna be sluggish tomorrow cause need oil change. but I expect to get 15.6 or better. everyones been getting bad times in this heat right now so we'll see!Don't have a best time cause tomorrow will be my first legal race.

Stock SVT focus at least comes with decent size stock alloys and way better stock suspension setup - it WILL outhandle your SI everyday of the week. Very ghey how the SI(R) comes with dinky little 15"s making it look like a 4x4.

Jhonda has a little shameless behaviour in the past
.

The svt focus is more setup for road course action. The Si is not The svt can outhandle most cars on the road stock for stock even a couple of the Corvettes, porsh boxters...etc Find a motor trend magazine and look in the back sometime

What are you basing weight by? Curb weight? Both cars are roughly 2,700lbs. The base is the lighest out of the base, Si, and RSX-S which is just 100lbs less.

Now if your weight is based by something else other than curb weight, tell me. I want to know if anyone has put either car on a scale at a track.

I hate kindergarten-like judgements such as these. I guess your Si does perform better... just because it's a Honda and Ford's are gay. You obviously have no experience driving the SVT so I guess it's okay to think the Si handles better.

im basing my weight statement on what i have heard from close friends of mine who drive both base RSX's and typeS's. They've raced Si's before, so im going off of a passing on of information. If its wrong, let me know...cuz otherwise im assuming that its right.

si vs rsx-s......its close till third gear given equal drivers. after that things can get ugly.

I have yet to have any rsx try and race me. Im sure the time will come.
