Raced my friends 03 Si on highway.....

Alright, I know I'm going to get the BS flag on this but I'm just telling it how it happened. Well for a while now I have been wanting to race my friends 03 Si just to see how my car can do. So a couple of days ago we decided to go at it on the highway from a 40mph roll. We both punched it. He started to pull and I dropped back to about a hood length behind him. He stopped pulling at around 60mph and I started to catch up. I caught up to him around 70ish and slowly started to pass him. At 110mph I was ahead of him by about a car length and a half and we shut down. I know I'm probably going to get flammed for this so flames are welcomed. I do have a lot more driving experience then he does though. I'm always the guy who drives other people's cars for them at the track because according to them I am the man to put behind the wheel. Oh well. The specs on both cars are as follows.

03 Civic Si 5spd

SRI
Thermal Exhaust
lowered
18" Axis Syders

01 Civic Ex 5spd

Injen RD CAI
OBX style rear section exhaust
DIY throttle cable adjustment
Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
Dezo Iridium Power Plugs
18" Konig Blatants
lowered
Stereo weight- 12" sub and amp

Those cars arent all that. The owners think they are of course, but ive raced a few, and ive had the same outcome...even from a dead stop.

I was at Bristol Dragway this weekend, saw multiple new SI runs of over 16.5, even saw a 16.9, and I know my car will pull faster times than that...

I have raced an Si and lost. He and I did 2 races. We are both track regulars and know how to launch.

Each race I jumped on him and pulled a car length ahead. But once our cars hit 3rd gear he pull 1, then 2, then 3 cars on me like i was nothing.

If the drivers are even like he and I was then the Si will win EVERY time. I do believe it now. At first I thought like how you all did. But I now have great respect for the Si.

FlyRice:

Thats cool that you admitted to that. Its very frustrating to hear some of the posts on here about the new Si. I have no hate towards any Honda (we're all in the same family), but some of the stories I hear on this site are very hard to beleive...from an Si owner's perspective. From all other accounts and personal experience, an EX is practicaclly no match...unless of course the drivers are inexperienced.

My friend and I (he has a 2000 Ex, I have '02 Si) went to the track, and it was basically the same result everytime. I would get mad tire spin, and he would jump out, then I would beat him (badly) in 2nd and 3rd. There was almost a 2 second difference each time. Both of us are hardly experts at launching...I've only been driving manual for about six months (EP was first manual I ever drove).

What else is funny is that people will bow to an RSX, but the EP is considered weak. They have the same engine! I'm not saying the EP is the fastest thing out there, but its pretty quick for what it is...a Civic.

I totally agree. It is kind of heavy which is why most cars will get the jump.....but once it hits those high redlines and that damned 3rd gear the race will be owned by the Si.

If we had a 3rd gear like you guys do then maybe we might be able to hold. But that simply isnt gonna happen.

I really want a blue Si.

It is a little heavier than an EX, but only like 150lbs, that maybe slows it down by maybe a thousandth of a second. I wished I waited for the 03 colors, but the deal I got on the 02 was just to hard to pass up. I'm sure you've been, but check out ephatch.com for some more EP info.

i drive an 02 Si and i dont think im godly at all....i am faster than alot of the other stock civics out there, but i know when someone is faster than me, and know when to bow down to them.

i raced an SVT focus last night and won...i think thats a good accomplishment b.c they have slightly better specs than the Si. i consider myself to be a good driver when i race, and thats what it comes down to alot of the time.

now if i turboed my EP, THEN i would think i was godly
kidding...

Hmmm. It seems like there are a couple of people in here that think I'm lieing. Ya, you got me. Yup, I'm lieing. That's me. I have nothing better to do then come on here and post a story that is a complete lie. I'm sorry that some of you are too ignorant to believe something that is actually possible. Well, I'm off to go think of more lies because I have nothing better to do.

You beat your friends civic by 2 seconds.....now that I would have to call BS because if you beat him by 2 seconds then that means he ran at least an 18 second 1/4mile. If that is the case then he doesn't know how to drive at all because even in my 1985 Honda Civic CRX HF I can run better than that
