Ok, so This happened about Friday afternoon. I had to go down to church to help out with some tech stuff going on for our children's VBS. The teen helpers get off at 12.

There was this one kid at my church that I really don't like that has the old 1980 Nissian 280zx. I really don't know much about it, but there was another friend of mine that was going to ride with him really quick just to see what it could do, so I hopped into my car and followed them to see if I'd see anything exciting. We rode for a few minutes, his stuff was pretty loud.
He asked me if I wanted to race, knowing I would probably loose, I just said sure, whatever. From what the other guy was saying, it's a turbocharged Inline 6 engine and it was a 5 speed, so he's got an advantage over my automatic civic.

So we pull down a road that's a horseshoe in shape and line up to race. We take off, he spins a bit but gets me off the line. In all, I wasn't too impressed -- he only had me by like 2 cars lengths. I thought his ride would be a lot faster. Well, we ran the straight away and the road started to curve, so I backed off and started to apply brakes when I noticed that he wasn't braking..

I finally saw him apply his brakes on like the second part of the curve, but he was going too fast and locked them up. He ended up skidding right into a curb and flying up on it and stopped about 15 feet later. This kid really is a dumb ***.. I mean.. who the hell races around a curve?

So, I guess he won.. but my car was the only one that came out of it alive..

He's got a bunch of pictures he took with a digi cam, lemme put them up on the web really quick and get a link.

Don't Race.. Expecially if you don't have any common sense

I race on curves, thats the only place I actually like to race. I think I have above average driving skills so....
Yeah, the old 280Z's werent that strong.... even the newer 300Z turbo only had like... low low 200HP. Cant expect much for cars during that era, right after oil crisis....

For those who do race around curves.. I assume most of you know the limits of your cars and you do slow down on curves you know you can't take. I'm also sure you don't slam on your brakes on lock them up (Locking your brakes on a curve = stupid).. The car will just go straight.. you can't turn with your brakes locked up..

I'm quite aware of that. I also know the limits of my brakes (I dont have ABS) and tires. Left foot braking helps some too!
