Rep Power: 787 So why was everyone saying that you shouldn't spend more than $50 to have it installed, and it should only take an hour?
So that means we're gonna end up paying another $160-200 just to have it installed. I'm gonna start looking for places to get estimates.

Rep Power: 787 Hehe. Good idea. Maybe I can get a better deal for getting both installed. I wanted to wait until someone else installed it first--that way we can get the belt sizes figured out.

The part that worries me is the timing part. I still don't understand exactly what needs to be done.

Rep Power: 0 I am kind of worried about the timing too but It doesnt sound that bad mark a spot on the pulley and when you turn it have the mark line up with the top of the stroke of the number 1 and number 4 piston. Josh correct me if I am wrong.

Rep Power: 787 Shops that do this must know how to set the timing, otherwise engines would be blowing left and right. Like osoboosted said, you'll know if it's not set exactly. I remember from Josh's instructions that there's also some modding involved. Looks like mine is just gonna sit around the apartment for a while.

Rep Power: 0 you have to shave the cover that covers the pulleys and belts since the pulley sticks out a little bit and it is like a couple of plastic ridges and just cut them or file them down they are there just to make the cover more ridged

Rep Power: 0 Im glad one of my buddies from work is doing it for 50 bucks because on shop time they told me about 115 to do it. I still don't understand how long this is going to take. The allmotor data program my work uses to give people labor estimates said like 2.2 hours and 2.4 for DX models without AC. Josh, you have done this right? How long did it take you guys?

Rep Power: 787 Josh has always said less than an hour, but it seems like it would be similar to replacing the timing belt. Alot of stuff has to come out just to get to the pulley.

Rep Power: 0 i think you also need to remove your head cover and timing belt. it seems to be a pain in the *** to install it yourself because we got a small space in the engine bay unlike the older civics, i hope someone could also post the exact timing belt size for the dual groove pulley

Rep Power: 787 I only have 20K miles on my car, but should I tell them to change the timing belt after all this? It's gonna be all apart anyway.

Rep Power: 0 8 Are on the way today. 8 More Tomorrow, and 8 every other day after that. Dave didn't realize there was a list on the group buy, so he just sent them to whoever, but at this rate everyone should almost have them by next week. Thanks again everyone.
