The newest person to join the Civic movement
I just wanted to tell you all that, after almost two years of talking to people in the forums (I forgot my old name, so I had to get a new one...that's why my join date is so recent), I have finally bought a Civic. Just today, I purchased a 2003 Civic Si. I love it. Honestly, I think it's more fun to drive than the 2002 Mustang GT I traded in for it. I originally went to get a Civic EX coupe...but when I saw the Si, I was like
. I took one look and fell in love...and now it's in my driveway.
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you all that I am now an official member. I'll get pics up within the next month or so...it just depends on how much time I have.
I have a couple of questions, as well. First of all...what, exactly, does Si stand for?? I'm sure this is an obvious one, and someone is sure to say "duh" or call me some rude name...but I honestly don't know. The only thing I have thought of so far, is that the S, in the original 70's Civic S, stood for "sport". When the Si's came out, they were the only Civics to be fuel-injected at the time...so I'm guessing the "i" stands for "injection"...thus "sport injection"...but it's just a guess.
The other question is...since the 1.6 is called the B16, and the 1.8 is called the B18...would the 2.0 in my Si be called a B20? Just wondering...probably another obvious one...but I'm new to Civics...the only imports I've ever owned were an '88 Mazda RX-7, and a '91 Dodge Stealth R/T...a rotary, and a v-6, respectively. That's quite a bit different than the engines in the Civics.

newest person to join the civic movement? i sincerely doubt it. there's a ricer born every minute
Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the meaning of Si. But you were close on your engine code. The new Civic Si has a K20 engine. This gen Si is in the family of the RSX. It kinda sucks because i think the B series engines were better. But congrats on your purchase on your new Odyssey........I mean Si. And happy modding.

yeah, ur engine code is k20...dont forget that the bseries has been out for a long time, and ppl have figured the engine out...while the k20 hasn't been fully tapped into...im not saying that the k20's are better, but give it time....

nice purchase man, although a lot of people on this site will call your car a mini minivan, and that it looks ugly and so on, but to everyone his taste, i personally love it. i doubt SI stands for anything, cause here in canada they are called SIR. so explain that??

Yes, SI does stand for Sport Injection.
You have a K20, which is the same series/engine(With some differences) as the RSX, RSX Type S, and a few other cars. So you are going to have a lot of parts to chose from.
Enjoy the Civic, through...good luck!

good to see another Si owner also, and break that f****r in please, it will give you a lot more enjoyment at about 5000 miles...

By the way, your engine code is unfinished by a good # of people. It's K20A3. Kinda sounds ridiculous just saying K20 IMO.
