Failed Car Inspection! Part 2

w00t! Got back from my reinspection and passed. I would have whipped out my paintball gun from my spare tire compartment and gone postal on their @sses, if they failed me again. (Just playing of course, for all you flamers who can't take a joke)

Anyway, I failed the first time because of my too blue bulbs (hyper'white' Silverstars) . That and the "gas cap". They told me that it was not genuine and that someone had switched mine with the fake one that I now had, maybe while at a gas stop (why I was asking for the gas cap DIYs). Funny coz when I went home to inspect, it was the same one I rode off with from the dealership. It had the logo and everything. I went back to the DMV and funny thing was, that same gas cap passed the reinspection. Those bastards.

Two stock bulbs from Honda cost me $22. Also replaced my wipers while I was at it. Total of $40 round abouts. Ah well.

Moral of the story: Don't go to the DMV for an inspection. Go to a "PIF" (Private Inspection Facility). Most gas stations are PIFs. They just glance over your car and slap on that sticker (which is ugly by the way).

And the people who work at the DMV are retards. They cannot drive, understand English, and are plain rude.

I hear you my dad almost got into a fight with some guy that worked there. For some reason he put his drivers license on his lip so he can get something else and the guy wouldnt accept his license. And it was a big mess. Anyways yeah DMV sucks!!

Vesper & Kenshin. First off they were brandy-spankin *new* from my local dealership. I had my old original bulbs, but I didn't want risking them popping, especially before/during reinspection.
I don't remember if I had touched the glass while taking them out to put in the Silverstars. Most likely I did, because I probably figured I wouldn't need to put them back in again. I was wrong. Plus, the space given to work with, for taking out the bulbs is so little and I probably knocked the bulbs around a few times. And I don't find it necessary to screw around with the bumper, just to replace some headlight bulbs.

Glad to hear you finally passed inspection, that whole blue buld thing is BS though. I never knew though that you could have the DMV do the inspection on your car, I always took it either to the dealer or to a local gas station or something. And well if I go this year and they give me any of that because of my PIAA's well there are places around here I can just pay for the sticker, no questions asked ..... he he .......

why would a gas cap prevent you from passing inspection? i thought any gas cap will do and i didn't know they even check them

I failed the emissions test too. My gas cap failed.... I was UPSET. I couldn't believe a 1 year old car could fail an emissions test because of the factory gas cap. I asked the inspector to double check, because the instructions clearly state 3 clicks or check engine light may come on.... they said if they retest I would have to get back in line.... which was increasing.... so I just paid $6 and bought one from autozone.

Emissions testing on new cars...
