My First Race
My First Race
This story is kinda lame but I got excited and wanted to share with someone. it happend sunday afternoon My car is a sedan Ex (AUTOMATIC) with 18 white rims and eurolights. NO ENGINE MODS. I was with my freind and we were sitting in the parking lot of Wendy's eating a sandwhich i had gotten from the drive-through (it was crowded as hell). I finished and these 2 kids came outta Wendys and got into the car next to me... a red pontiac 2 door grand prix or sumpin like that. it had a huge Xplod sticker on the back of it. So the kids followed us into the turn lane to turn onto the 2 lane road in front of us. immediantly they start blasting their system.... i think it was 2 of those shitty 12'' sony xplod subs but it went green and i turned left fast onto the 2 lane road and he did the same, i let him get next to me and we looked at each other for a brief second and then i went off..... The road was empty, no one but us and a few behind us, there were 6 foot walls on each side of the road, and it had slow curves that culd be taken at 80 mph if u needed to, and u culdnt see the cars going the opposite direction and there was NO WHERE cops could hide so i had no promblem going as fast as my car could on thsi road. well i got a few car lengths ahead of him and it stayed the way till bout 70, soon after he pulled about a car lengths ahead of me till bout 80, then a slight curve came up and i had the inside lane so i got bout 3 car lengths ahead of him, but regained all that and more on the next turn, after that it was dead straight away for what i think was 2 miles.... i hit the gas and it sounded like my car was crying.... my freind was watching the speedometer and he said we got up to bout 98 on that straightway. i was too scared to look...lol. a slight curve was coming up and i took my foot off the gas and let it go down to bout 80, the other guy braked at the last second and i got the lead and after the curve straightened out we saw a group of cars up ahead and we slowed down to about 60 and road side by side for a few miles and we both turned into the circuit city parking lot to talk. His car was an automatic and he had no upgrades on it, except his 2 12's were actually 2 15's, they sounded like ****, dont buy em. we talked for a little bit and then i drove off. i had things to do. All in all this was THE DUMBEST THING THAT IVE EVER DONE, now when i look back on it im ashamed and feel straight up stupid. The road was connecting 2 hick towns in southern Georgia so there weren't ppl on the road. you should really think twice about racing like this, trust me ull regret it.

98 mph...sooo scary

it wasnt racing that made this post retarded...it was the fact that u did it with heavy *** 18s on an automatic (slushbox) civic.
also combine that with the fact that there wasnt a start or finish...was it really a race?
edit: that sucks ducatti sorry to hear it.

now why dont you do what this pic tells u to do
Oh well, atleast you tested the limits of your driving ability (not your car). Just remeber the max on a 02'civic is about 119, and it's not hard to get there if you knew what to do. Tips for getting better speed times:
Use ocatane boosters every 2000 miles,
Always clean your air filter/air box every 100 miles,
Never use anything less than 90 octane gas,
And use ths method if you really want a win, drive your car like a very old senior citizen (30-35 mph), then when race time comes, you have alot of energy (from unused battery juice which would other wise be wasted during driving fast) saved in your car for that all-encompassing win with any one who rolls up.

cars ive beaten with my automatic 02 civic sedan (stock) so far:
2001 Porche boxster,
97 bmw m3,

mercedes ml 320.

dude good race espically with an automatic it reminds me of the time i raced my friends 1st Gen RX-7 we were neck and neck doing 110mph on the highway except we both have sticks
I race almost every time I can well besides when the cops arent around. I try not to beat on my car but so fare I held off for a week
and I got my car up to 117mph before couple of times, thats cause the govinor kicked in . I got caught only once racin but I got let off with a no front liscence plat so I got lucky.

and octane doesn't make you go faster. It's for high strung engines to prevent pinging and detonation. like turbo'd engine's or high compression engines.
Also. wtf does this mean, especially when you have an auto "Just remeber the max on a 02'civic is about 119, and it's not hard to get there if you knew what to do. "
it's top end. just floor it. maybe cheat by going down a hill. I don't see how'd you have to know anything to do that.

Wow thats impressive....here are a couple of my kills with my old 01 Coupe
1997 Tomcat Fighter Jet
The Shuttle Discovery
The speed of sound ....
Next time, race a Go Cart. Make sure it does not have any mods. Mom always said, "Don't race people on the street, especially with a 4-door Civic."

98 MPH? I'm guessing you guys ran outta room pretty quick. . . .
What was fun for me was (not racing) cruising along I-82 in eastern Washington where the highways are lightly travelled. Going about 80 or so most of the time (limit is 70) and hitting a nice straightaway with no cars in front. . . . revving her up and hitting 133 MPH. . . . WEEEE!!!!! Even took a turn at around 110 until I saw some cars up ahead.
I do have a question, though. . . . I've heard that the faster one goes, the less accurate your speed is displayed on the speedo. I know our cars (even with a manual like mine) can't hit over 140 MPH. . . yet with the RPM's I had to spare I could have hit close to 150 from what my speedo was showing. What gives?
