I got into an accident...with a VERY ironic twist...

I just finished watching another episode of Initial D when my roommate asks me to go with him to the airport to pick someone up. Well, I walk downstairs, get into my car and go down the driveway...I live at a sharp curve in the road, and it's a pretty blind corner - so I waited till it was clear and started to drive...no sooner had I pulled out than a car came BALLING down the corner, and nails my tire...

No damage to my fender or bumper (well, minor dings and scratches), but the suspension is totally screwed up. Mad props to Grey and Havok2k1 for coming over to check the damage. So now I'll have to limp the car to the dealership and figure out how much it's going to cost and all that crap. Now mind you, he was going too too fast and I waited, so it's not my fault. But you'll never guess the car that hit me...

This one is for all you fans...does his car look familiar to anyone?

Or maybe this view will tip ya off...

YES, that's right ladies and gents, I got hit by an exact replica of the mighty AE86 Trueno in Inital D. Right down to the Tofu store decal on the left door.

And here's his skid mark that he left...

Just to give you an idea on the speed at which he hit me, those little flecks in the next pic are paint chips from his bumper on my hood.

The irony was so great, I just can't help but laugh - at least in the moments that I'm not pissed/upset at my newly redesigned suspension. The wheel that was hit has major camber issues, and possibly a bent tierod. I'll keep y'all posted on the progress...

And yes, my neck does hurt, no joke...

Sorry bout the accedent. I think he should give that car to you just becuase he hit you to pay you back for the car. Plus he should pay the repair and any medical bills for the neck. The AE86 is one of my favorite 80s cars. In the US they were known as the corolla GTS I think. Nice drifter cars.

Yeah, that's just freaky. Mad coincidence. I saw the damage. The toe-in and the camber of the driver's side front wheel are way off. The camber is way negative (tilted inwards) and the toe-in is tilted inwards. We didn't test it yet, but it probably pulls to the right like a mother!@#$er at a speed over 20mph. The tierod has some play in it, so something is screwy internally. Hopefully Takumi is found at fault and you get your deductible back. That is if you want to go through insurance? I'de call him first like I said if you're worried that the insurance company may not put anyone at fault.

Well, the lowdown is this:

The steering knuckle is bent
The upper control arm is bent
The lower control arm is bent
The srut Fork is bent
The strut bar is bent
The hub was bent
The wheel bearing was bent...

Basically everything on the left front suspension is messed up.

Total damage quoted from Honda: 1351.00

Holy F'n Gawd!!!! That is the entire front suspension. I would personally go to get another opinion on this one. I assume the dealer would be on the sfae side and reorder ALL the parts to make sure nothing is bent. It's your call, but I would definately bring it to a local tire place that has an alignment machine to get a second opinion....

About calling him, I HIGHLY doubt that he will write you out a check for $1300. Finish that police report and file it with the station and your insurance company. If he doesn't submit anything, that will help your case a little. Just remember, MA is a no fault state, which pretty much sucks. At least if it really is a $1300 repair, insurance will cover a big chunk of it......

Sorry kid, and the whole Initial D thing is just plain scary

Well, it won't matter what Honda says, since my insurance company is sending out someone to take a look at the car...at least it's at a place that knows the car well, and could possibly give a clearer picture on the damage...

Ugh, I don't want to ride the bus tomorrow!

The adjuster is supposed to come out and take a look most likely today...

I had a chance to talk with an officer today, and he said that a double-yellow line is usually treated as a median, and therefor shouldn't be crossed. However, he also said that since the officer that arrived at the scene didn't site me for making the turn, he saw nothing wrong with my actions. Also, the skid mark is inconclusive based on the fact that a car travelling at 30mph could produce that as well...so I'm going to have to check to see if there's a sign for a posted speed limit before the curve...I bet there is, considering how dangerous that area is...

I hit a pot hole last Saturday which caused $1300 worth of damage. It twisted my lower tie bar pushing up on the radiator support which will not allow my hood to shut right. Not to mention it tore up the splash guard & plastic piece underneath the bumper & the bumper cover. Also, I was going like 10mph, so luckily my airbags didn't deploy.
