My ideal Civic...what do you think?
So like I've said, I've decided to go ahead and purchase a 2002 Civic DX (Red 5-Speed) Coupe this december. I'm waiting till then because I want to put down a hefty downpayment to pay the car off quicker.
First off, I am going to go ahead and have the dealer add a OEM Wing and OEM Lip-Kit to the package.
Anyhow, here are my plans over the next year for it, starting at the beginning of 2003:
- 18" 5Zigen 5ZR Copse's or Tenzo R RS-5's, I'm debating which company, if I should shell out the extra hundred or so dollars for the higher quality brand. Basically 5Zigen is roughly $200 more than Tenzo R. (Both are basically traditional 5-Star sports rims, look exactly alike)
- Cat-back Exhaust, either from Tanabe (Racing Medallion line) if its available, or custom piping with a Tanabe Racing Medallion style muffler.
- Drop Springs, maybe a 1.2" in the front with a 1.5" in the back, I'm not looking for anything fancy.
- Replaced Shift **** & Short Shifter, just some fun stuff.
- Audio System, still deciding on a deck. I think I am gonna go with two 10" woofers in the rear, still checking on other speaks though.
- New Seats, maybe a brand like MoMo or Sparco.
- Cold Air Intake, just for a little kick, if I wanted uber fast, I wouldn't have picked a Civic, or a DX for that matter.
- Misc Stuff, like some new spark plugs and maybe a tasteful colored hose kit.
This is all I really want done to be honest. Rumor is floating the Skyline sports cars (not the G35 line Skylines, you know, R33 or whatever) is coming to US shores in late 2004 or 2005. Yes this information is from both my local Nissan and Infiniti dealership, so I guess its nothing to jump up and down about. Anyhow, if this is true I want to start saving some money for one, I've always dreamed of owning a Skyline.
This way I get a nice car (34/44mpg too!) that I can hook up and still drive to some shows (hoping to win some trophies in like a "OEM" or "Clean" catagory), but I don't want to put too much money into.
Sooo, whatcha people think?
PS: I am still debating on the rims, I'm still undecided if I love or dislike the traditional 5-star sports rims on the new 7th gen bodies. Hmm..

Turbos introduced into the future for the 7th gens could cost thousands of dollars, that I could instead use as part of my downpayment on a car in the future (Skyline I hope).
I'm not speed racer, as a matter of fact this will be my first 5-speed ever. I just want a clean ride that still gets a few looks from passer-bys.
you know with all those aftermarket parts you can have a working turbocharger? just that and a loud BOV will attract attention.
- Height
- Hubcaps
- Peashooter Exhaust
And I'd like to keep my car at 34/44mpg
As for the rims, get the lightest ones, you should probablly look into how much used RSX type-s's are, because I'd much rather have one of those, I didn't know much about cars when I bought the civic, and regret it occasionally. The skyline thing sounds like a heaping load of bullsh*t to me. The 36th generation skyline is most likely coming to the U.S. but.......
