Hey, my name is Roger and I am new to civic forums. I thought it was time to share my rhd ep3 build.
A couple of months ago I had posted a wtb thread for a rhd ep3 dashboard, i found it at a local shop, so heres my build thread. I don't have many pics of my car since i see it everyday. from the pics i have i know you guys will be sure that it is a real rhd coversion. im not building this car to put it away in a garage and park it. its going to be my daily driver once its done. im not going to crazy with my ep as i did with my other cars, just enough to turn a couple of heads.... heres the list of mods that im doing to it right now. and its current stage. ENJOY!
Bought my 2005 Honda Civic si at a small dealership...ive owned it about 6 months. i bought my rhd clip from steve at hmotors, dash was cracked so i bought a replacement one and had my rhd clip sitting under a car cover since. i didnt realize it until 2 months ago that i bought a really molested car. my engine went out about 2 months ago, didnt expect it would since it had 66,xxx miles.i bought a totaled 2004 rsx type s with 70,xxx miles. when i was doing the engine swap, me and my buddy decided it was time to do the rhd conversion since the engine was coming out.
list of parts and mods:
Rhd Ep3 Clip
Rhd Ep3 Wipers
Ukdm Facelift Front Bumper
Ukdm Civic Type R Side Skirts
Jdm Ep3 Type R Spoiler
Rhd Ep3 Civic Type R Floor Mats
Rhd Civic Type R Carpet
2004 Honda Civic Coupe Si Front Seats
Jdm Ep3 Civic Type R Cluster with 7,XXX KM
Brand New Jdm Ep3 Shift Boot
Brand New Jdm Ep3 6spd. Shift ****
Jdm Rhd Power Window Switches
Complete K20a2 swap
Rsk Type S Disk Brake setup with cross drilled rotors
I'm sure that Im forgetting more parts so I will post them up as I remember.
not the best pics, and car is really dirty but it will still give you an idea where it was at.
Ctr gauge cluster reads 11,xxx km almost brand new
brand new in box facelift type R grill
brand spanking new facelift headlight covers...Rare!
type R
ep3 heated mirrors with side markers for rhd... still need paint
brand new facelift "H" emblem
complete facelift grill brand new!
Civic type r center console for the Rhd.
On to the car pictures!, looks decent. will look perfect once i finish collecting the parts i need=)
ill take better pics when i come around to washing it and detailing it. this car is my daily driver. usually about 400 miles a week. so its just not sitting in my garage. or in my back yard.
Some more parts!
facelift type r headlight MINT!
Oem dc5 wheels
Brand New Ep3 Mudflaps...I don't know if ill be able to make them work. but i will modify them if i have to.
Jdm Ctr Rear Bumper with Ctr Rear Lip
So on my way to work this lady was backing out of her apartment complex.
She didnt pay attention to the cars coming and long story short this happened.
Time for a little facelift though
Just some parts that I had laying around and some brand new oem honda replacement parts from the crash.
Who needs a truck? Lol
So a buddy of mine helped me pull out the damaged part of the core support.
Installed the facelift headlights, fender, and bumper reinforcement for mock up.
Got the facelift front bumper mounted on with a brand new facelift grill
Very pleased with the fitment.
MONEY SHOT
So we took everything apart and started doing the body work on the front bumper. Overall it was in relatively good condition beside a small crack under the right headlight.
So we fixed the crack with fiber glass.
layed down the first layer of fiberglass
So here are the parts we have painted so far. I'm very pleased at the way they came out. My favorite are the mirrors
Almost forgot, a couple parts came in the mail today
Also to add, bought brand new Function & Form Coilovers
& also some Project Kics Neo Chrome Lug Nuts to boot

Wow...
Simply impressive.
I can't help but wonder though, with all that work done and all that time and moeny spent, wouldn't it be easier just to import a real Type R?

Really? I've never heard that before...
I did some reading on the NHTSA website, and the 25 year thing is correct, but only if it's a car that doesn't meet U.S. safety standards. What I don't understand is... we have the Si here in the U.S., so how can the Type-R possibly not meet the same requirements? It's virtually identical!
There's a RHD Honda Integra Type-R in my town and quite a few other cars that are not offered in the U.S., so... how do they get them? I'd imagine if you can find a registered importer, a Type-R Civic should be no hassle.

If that's not the case however, the trick to importing a car that does not yet qualify is disassembling it overseas and shipping it into the country as parts. When it enters the country you re-assemble the car and have it registered under a new title. Going that route is a significant risk, because Homeland Security actively seizes "grey" market imports.
You can read more about it here,

So today the rest of the car had been painted and it was time to start fitting back the parts.
Enjoy.
So heres the custom reinforcement we made for the rear bumper...The type r rear bumper needs the slimmer fit reinforcement and this did the charm...just used the stock brackets off the old one....better than HONDA hahaha
The rest of the car was also painted
Paint will look soooo much better once the car is buffed!
We also took care of a rubbing issues so i can dump the car for Eibach
Project kics with Dc5 wheels
Mirrors were also put on...still need to figure out how to wire up them up though.
Installed the function form suspension
Fitting the rear Ctr Bumper
Brand new roof moldings
Started to piece the front end back together
Facelift anyone? lol
Enjoy.

Love the build, except for the coilovers. All that time and effort on quality project, but you skimped on what makes a Honda a Honda. Not raw speed or aesthetic beauty, but handling. Props to you though, keep it up!

Small update
So I ordered these 25mm Ichiba wheel spacers to fix a little issue we had and sure enough this did the trick.
Then we finished up the wiring for the hid's, and mirrors.
Very pleased at the way they came out.
I have yet to buy the fog lights but both my high beams and foglights will have 3k yellow hid's
looks evil in my opinion
