Rep Power: 0 My Audio Whip
In the wake of my father selling his '07 Ridgeline RTL (Which I had been driving since I recieved my license.), I needed a new car. Being fortunate enough to have a father who was a manager at the local Honda dealer, I was prepared to get myself a Honda at nice low price
I had set my sights on a 7th gen Accord coupe, however that dream quickly faded due to a lacking in funds. After weeks of nothing but pure crap trade ins, a single owner, Silver 2005 Civic LX Automatic Sedan came in with 100,000 miles on it. It was in great condition, however the previous owner had put a fist size hole in the front bumper. I quickly claimed it. With a full tune up (All belts, fluids, and plugs), I took it home for $5,900.
My first goal was to install an amazing sound system, but that was put on hold because the stock lights were terrible. I got a buy1get1 deal from Amazon on 2 pairs of GE Nighthawks so I bought the high and low beams for a total of $35. Installing them was the first work I had ever done on any car.
I then bought a Pioneer AVIC-F700 for $360 from 6Ave through Amazon. I was lucky enough to have access to a BestBuy Employee discount (5% over cost) so I went to town buying everything I needed (Dynomat, Infinity Reference components and full ranges, Alpine 4 channel amp, Fosgate wiring kit, and Pioneer iPod cable. All of that retailed for about $1000, I spent about $390 .
I got it all installed and decided I was ready for a sub. I received quite a larger Q-Logic bandpass 15in box and a 150w 4ohm JBL woofer from my uncle for free. I hit up Craigslist and found a Pioneer 500w 2ohm, 300w 4ohm amp. Unknowingly (stupid that I didn't check) that the previous owner had the gain fully cranked I hooked it all up. I took note of smelled like cigarette smoke and assumed the previous owner was just heavily smoked. That's when I popped my trunk to watch as my woofer ports acted as smoke stacks and pushed out thick white smoke.
I eventually bought a Kicker 07cvr154 to reveal that the woofer was too deep for the box. I am currently in the process of cutting a spacer to lift it up about an inch and a half.
Today my new 120Amp alternator arrived and will be installed this weekend. Today I will also be buying a used K&N Typhoon. Next week I am planning on installing the DIY trunk with hinges and MDF. Later this summer I will also stick some red cathodes under the dash.
I will update this soon with some pics.
Lots of woofer pics

The paint is fine, I just took these on a very foggy 5AM morning.

It looks in good physical condition, going to try to get it clean. Even if I have to buy a new filter, it is still a hell of a deal.

Yeah, cannot wait to get that and the new alternator in!
The other one I was looking at was this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6918&viewitem=
But it was more $$, filter was dented, and I wasn't 100% sure it would fit.
I think this weekend I will also do some weight reduction :-)

remove rear seat. a/c removal. spolier removal. remove panels. idk man thats about it besides buying new performance parts and replacing suspension, brakes, flywheel, clutch, things to that nature. Its really hard to just take stuff off and remove alot of weight bcuz everything that weighs alot is neccesary for the car to run. lol

Yea it would be kinda pointless. If you're wanting an audio beast then you shouldn't be worried about weight dropping anyway. Bcuz those speakers and boxes would weigh more than the back seat anyways. You could take the back seat out and build custom speaker boxes there and maybe get some monitors or something. THen you would be opening the back doors to the subs. that would be cool for shows and such.

I was really thinking that, but it is really a waste of a back seat. Even though the main reason I got the sedan over the two door wasn't the room, but because the tail lights are coooler :P
My $35 Typhoon was shipped should be here in a few days.
120AMP Alternator installed, fixed a little light blinks, but my speaker squeal is still there, so if anyone finds a good deal on some NGK spark plugs let me know, that will be my next test.

do you have a capacitor? You can pick up a nice one on ebay for cheap. They usually solve alot of problems with dimming lights and it takes stress off your altenator and battery therefor making everything last longer, including your subs and amps.

Update! Woofer install pics, V1 pic, broken front bumper.
I am wondering if I can use that bumper hole to help my intake?

I got a comment today from a car tech that I may be able to compete in amateur decibel contests. Does anyone think that is possible with my specs?

Yep, but the sound isn't awkward in the slightest and that is all that matters... Actually, I have since moved it around :P
