Project Car I Helped My Friend With.. An 87 MR2
Re: Project Car I Helped My Friend With.. An 87 MR2
ooo green. Great job on the body work. Like the rim color too. Whats up with the fender flares? They look like they are straight off a jeep. Anyways keep at it I wanna see finished pics asap.
Re: Project Car I Helped My Friend With.. An 87 MR2
lmao @ jacks. I think the fenders would look better molded to the car and painted. I mean it's his car and all but thats just my preference. How much longer do you think you have on it yet?

Yeah i think thats why he got it.. I wasnt there for when he did this but he cut the bumper in half and i think he took a little bit out of it to raise it up cause it sat to low to the ground and it didnt mesh well with the sides or rear..So he cut and put it back together.. Cant even tell it was cut

White with the black flares and gold wheels woulda looked nice. The green has a retro look. It looks like it should belong on an english sports car or something.

Yeah the paint color looks a lot like my dads gran torino after he cleaned it up, he sold if for almost 3x what he paid for it. Is it just sitting outside like that til you guys are done or how is he protecting all this time, effort, and money you are putting into it?

It sits on the garage.. Not sure how much money hes put into it.. The paint cost 300 i know that.. Not sure how much the bumper was or the rims or the ground control coilovers he bought.. he still hasnt bought any tires yet either.. This car is just gonna be his daily driver for when his celica gts goes in the shop to convert to manual right side drive with a rotrex supercharger

Re: Project Car I Helped My Friend With.. An 87 MR2
Here is a blast from the past, still working on the car.. . It was stuck at a shop who moved over night and left my stuff in the abandoned building. Fought 8 months to get the car back from the landlord who was going to sell the contents of the building before renting it. Got it some, back missing alot of parts but now I have been back at it for the past 3 months.
Pics of my motor, employees, tool, and various supra parts

While the car was in the shop I did a few carbon parts. I guess this is all I took pics of (fail).
Full replacement console

I got the new motor in. It is a gen3 3sgte. It will make around 360whp car weighs less than 2300lbs. Started doing powder coating, and did the valve cover to match the car. The next few pics are pretty boring. Im mocking up a bracket so I can weld it together.

The color is an illusion color. Looks black at angles close up looks like a dark green and in the sun a green gold. Similar to the paint on the car.

Now the project is back up and running Ill update the thread.

Here is the a2w set up. The reserve will be in the trunk, ran by to bosch cobra pumps. I may get a st205 pump and mod the wiring so it stays on 100% of the time (unlike what they are wired for).

Re: Project Car I Helped My Friend With.. An 87 MR2
It sucked. Had to put the engine in from the bottom. It took a few hours to get it in place. The motor is huge compared to the 4age. It was hitting everywhere. Finally we muscled it into place. Its a tight squeeze for sure.
