LED Dome and Map Lights! Probably the worlds brightest...
Ok guys Ill have pics up tonite but here is the deal... I modded 1 Ostar 10 watt 500 Lumen LEDs for each of my map lights. Well they are WAY too bright and they totally KILL my eyes lol. so now im gonna pull them out and put in a SSC P4 LED in each map light and the Ostar for the dome light. I always thought brighter was better... Its seriously WAY too bright. haha. I guess thats what I get for spending $20 per LED.

its not necessary to have anything higher than a 3w (say... luxeon led) for each map light. its nice n bright, but you really cant look at it w.o going blind..... i had a 5w luxeon on mine...and id get blind every time it went on.......exspecially if it was completely dark in my car and someone opens the door.......hahahah

btw, where'd u get ur led diode? and what kinda resistor didja put on it? any voltage regulators??

actually its vf is 12v since it a multi-die led and they are all wired in series. I was going to use a resistor but I checked the current it was pulling and it was only slightly overdriven with the car running so im not worried about it. I am going to change them out tho... I just wanted to see how it would work lol. couple pics comming up soon.

haha wow you are crazy lol. the 1w amber i have in mine is perfect brightness around 30 lumens. there are limits to some things.

also im not sure that heatsink is big enough. and on hot days with sun shining on it, the metal gets hot enough to burn you. so idk how long they will last being attached like that...

ya I know im gonna switch the emitters out to SSC P4 leds. Ive left them on for 15 mins and the heatsink gets up to about 150f lol so ya they wouldnt last too long like that.
