Thanks Jza... I bought them from another member on this site for a GREAT price. They were damn near brand new and I paid $325 for wheels and tires. Enkei wrapped in Yokohama.

Re: paint drums or no?

I think it depends on the body to wheel color combo that makes a difference to the color you decide to paint your calipers. I did mine red, thought it looked gaudy.... so I'll strip the drums and calipers and flat blk em.

Re: paint drums or no?

Nice DIY, but it is way easier to take the drum off the car and paint it on some newspaper.

BTW, why the hell does this thread have 33 posts?

Re: paint drums or no?

EHHH... i'm clearing them as we speak. I decided against the gloss black because it'd make my rims look like steelies without hubcaps.

I wirebrushed them down to the dark metal color and now I'm just clearcoating them.

Why hold back go all Big Brake Kit all the way around... But if funds are low can't go wrong with glossy black.

The finished product...... much better than flat or gloss black IMO, esp to make my black wheels contrast better.

Clearcoat on de-rusted drums that I used a wirebrush and drill to clean.

It's okay... the pictures suck anyway. I probably should have spent more time on em and sanded them to make em smooth. It looks better in person. As long as I like it right? I'll take better pics in the near future.

The springs are actually tein ss. You just can't see the green.

Re: paint drums or no?

As long as your happy. I think it turned out okay. I went with black to hide the ugliness of the rusted drum. Sanded with a wire brush like you did too.

Re: paint drums or no?

I know this thread is old, but I'd rather post here then get ridiculed for staring a new one ("use the search noob/lazy ***")

I want to paint my calipers red and was thinking flat black on the drums.

Here's my questions:

Is it stupid/ricey to have them different colors?
Should I do them both black?
Should I do them both red?

Re: paint drums or no?

You think Flat black on the back and Red Gloss up front wont look ricey? I think it'll look good but i'll be damned if I make my civic look like a ricer. Nothing worse then getting associated with the idiots that throw on a fart can.

Re: paint drums or no?

I think rust looks bad too. I have an '01 with rusty rear drums. Not getting discs, so I need to do something as well. I think glosyy black looks bad...atleast that last picture I saw of it did. Looked fake or something.
