A look back on the progress of my car.

Trying build a daily driver show car. It has a lot of limitations but this is what I have done so far.

Where it all began. It's a 2005, this is the day after I got it.

One of the first things I did was install a flip out DVD player, PS2, subwoofer and amp.

Then 2 days later I had my 2 way paging alarm/starter installed.

Then I pulled the badges off.

Then I painted my headlights flat black.

Then I put in the trunk monkey. His name is Spanks, Spanks The Monkey.

And then pulled out the DVD player to put in a computer with a VGA touchscreen.

I paid for a full air ride suspension and only received this much of it. As you can see it's useless to me.

And I got my windows tinted.

I replaced the fabric on the doors with (fake) suede.

I replaced the shift boot with the same.

Got new seats.

Then I bought a Tein S-Tech suspension, Eibach camber kit and 18 inch Tenzo Drive X-7 wheels.

Next I need a good sound card and I want to get a set of headlight strobes just for shows. And some side skirts, maybe some bumpers. What do you think?

Re: A look back on the progress of my car.

Oh ya, if it's daytime, I can't see **** on the screen. I just know where the buttons are, next track and volume are all I need! There's a sunlight readable Lilliput monitor available now but mine's a Xenarc which I think is better. Once Xenarc makes a sunlight readable screen I'll look into it.

And thanks, blackonblack! The last 2 pictures were from the em2ab.com (mini) meet yesterday.

Thanks *******.

Here's a video of the Xenarc 700TSV (same one I have) versus the sunlight readable Lilliput screen.

Re: A look back on the progress of my car.

Ya sorry man, I put it under the driver's seat. It tucked in there really well, just had to be careful when you moved your seat back for any reason and also mention to the passengers in the back not to step on the memory card. I tried in the glovebox and center console, didn't fit. The only other place is the tunk.....errr I mean trunk.

Yesterday I finally dug the IR receiver for the remote out from behind the dash and put it somewhere useful. Then I dug the remote out of a box in my apartment and finally got into the menu (after a year) to change the brightness levels on the screen. Default was set at 27 which is why I couldn't see ****. So I upped it to 99 (max) and now I can see it fine in the daytime. No problems at all.

Re: A look back on the progress of my car.

Last week I painted my calipers red and drums black.

And I Just got finished putting a new terminal on my battery and feeding all the wiring into it. Much better.

And here's the screenshots for the new skin I installed on the carputer.

Re: A look back on the progress of my car.

Thanks! This is hilarious, I JUST bumped my carputer D.I.Y. thread 2 seconds ago, so it should be in the list now if you take a look for it. It goes through a complete explanation of how to set it up.

The motherboard has 3 sound ports:
1 - stereo in
2 - stereo out
3 - microphone in

So I went into the Windows settings and changed them:
1 - stereo out front
2 - stereo out rear
3 - center / subwoofer

So then I just take a RCA cable and run it from the ports on my motherboard and into my amplifier. Then run wires like normal from my amp to the wires on a wiring kit for a headunit like below.

Then I simply plug the harness adapter into the factory harness in the dash. Presto, music. Then another RCA from the last port on the motherboard into another amp and into the subwoofer. It's easier to keep your headunit and just run RCA to that but I don't like playing CD and wouldn't use it if I had it.

haha ya, the name of the skin is Freedom Unlimited I believe. But I just picked up a few new skins to use for now. And I'm also developing my own custom front end in Java so it'll control everything I want in the car. But this'll take me a good few months for sure.
