I have a question for you all....

Ok, so I have a DC RH and Greddy EvoII (and lots of other goodies) and it sounds like ***. Period. So seriously, what exhaust actually sounds good on a 7th gen? I'm tired of reading all this crap about how "this exhaust sounds good and this one doesn't" and it seems like there is never any certain conclusion. Honestly, I've read a hundred reviews and exhaust comparisons and people always are saying that the evo2 is nice and deep and highly recommended. When a noob asks what exhaust to buy, greddy is often suggested. I was one of these noobs asking a while back and so I bought the exhaust based on its high reputation. But yeah, it is really raspy and ricey. If you lift anywhere above 3-4k, you get that farty rice noise. It's horrible, makes me not ever want to hit 3.5k or higher.

So i know I'm just ranting and all but seriously, does anyone have an exhaust that really sounds good, no raspy-ness or rice sounds? If so a video would be great.

Thanks,
Shane

What about the Greddy SP2.

The add on the PROCivc.com web sight claims it's one of the more quiet performance cat-backs on the market.

But you didn't here that from me cause I yant one to gossip

Ive asked the same kinda questions a few times already. The magnaflow is nice and deep, so is the rs-r when you floor it. Neither are ricey. I've heard time and time again that the greddys give that rice sound which is why ive already strayed away from that and ordered my magnaflow. The rsr is more of a stock looking exhaust but has the flow and sound to make it nice.

I had a Greddy SP2 with a header and Hi-Flow cat. It had a nice quiet deep tone. you really can't hear it when you have the windows up but you could hear a low tone with the windows down. Sounded like a World Sport.

I have a HKS axle-back with a HP racing mid-pipe, Random Tech Cat and HP header. It is loud but it is not raspy in the upper RPM's. I would say it is alittle bit quieter than a N1 exhaust.

It's the DC RH that is making your car sound raspy. the only thing that could help it is getting a SP2 or World Sport.

OK....I am done

magnaflow nice and deep the whole way through 1-5. I dont have a header due to a pending turbo plan, but my buddy has a dc header with his 'maggie' The differnence in our cars are night and day. I prefer the quieter subtle tone of mine, but his header opens his up.

So if it is the RH like someone said, then won't any exhaust sound ricey? It takes the fun out of driving when your car sounds like sh*t. I dont wanna invest in another exhaust and have it do the same thing. Also, how to the quieter mufflers such as sp2 and ws2 compare performance wise? Seems like more restriction=less power.

i heard the Greddy Evo2 full catback sounded nice, i have a Apexi N1 exhaust, im using my stock piping and i have my resonater(spell check) on, which i did on purpose because i knew if i got full piping it would sound like a fart cannon. Just my opinion

Well it could be the RH b/c I know it does mike it sound raspy on certain cars. My exhaust with the HKS doesn't sound raspy through-out the RPM's.

The sp2 and world sport are straight-through mufflers just ovel and uses different material to silance the noise. I felt no difference between the HKS and sp2.

Its not that i want a really quiet, oem sounding muffler. I prefer something somewhat (not obscene) loud. I want it to be performance loud, not cheesy pepboys muffler loud. So really, everyone has a different opinion, but what do you guys generally agree on?

When I had the SP2 with hi-flow cat you could tell I had an exhaust but it was more on the sporty sound than loud and deep. As soon as I put on the random tech cat it got louder.

You have a RH so any exhaust you pick is going to be louder on you car than another car with a stock cat. I would say 10-15 db louder.

Totally agree you^^^. The DC Race Header eliminates the catalytic converter. So all you have is free flowing pipe from engine to tail. Of course it's going to sound different! All of the reviews you got they probably had their cat converter. So if you buy another exhaust that will not solve the problem... changing the header will.

a cat would help tone down the "abnoxious" noise a little. i have an hp race header and high-flo cat with the greddy evo2 and it is not that bad (ricey) IMO.
