Getting kind of bored with my '05 EX Coupe, cheap ideas?
Hey guys,
For some reason or another I'm really getting bored with my 2005 Honda Civic EX Coupe. I'm trying to think of some ways that I can get more life out of it and more entertainment so I can be pleased with it. Right now it's completely stock. Hopefully by the end of this quarter I am going to have a new head unit and a remote start installed... the audio system will soon follow whenever I get some money and some ideas!
I'm trying to think of some other things, perhaps appearance wise that either I can do myself or get my buddy who knows a lot about it to do it. My first question:
1) The pins for the gauges, that show you what the levels are... is there a way to change them from perhaps orange, to blue?
2) Do the indiglo gauges exist for the '05 EX yet, and if so a link? I may not get them, I may look at another idea... but I'm dying to see if they exist and everytime I search for them I come up empty handed.
3) My buddy told me someone here has a package that changes the LED's behind the gauges from the White glow to a blue glow... any links to where that is?
Any other ideas that would be cheap for me to get more fun out of my car? Thanks!

Get some nice window tinting if you don't already have it...a common mistake is tinting around the third brake light. You should remove it and tint the entire back windshield and then replace the third brake light. it looks aweful when people are lazy and cut corners and decide to just tint around the brakelight. Another idea would be to replace the headlights and/or taillights with some nice aftermarket ones.. certain styles pertain better to certain colors...
another idea would be to add some oem foglights if your car doesn't already have them.. even on the EX, foglights usually are an option..and imo, the oem foglights look real clean.
you may also consider a custom grill treatment...

that's a pretty good idea also civicboy, but it's not exactly a cheap idea if thats what punk is lookin for. lip kit is somewhat doable without breaking the bank too much, but when you get into tires, wheels and lowering then it can get well past 1 grand easily....i mean if he has the money, dats deffinetly the way to go
no doubt...

if you're going to spend your money get SPRINGS. they have the best bang for your buck. they will:
1. make your car look more aggressive
2. improve handling (which is more fun)
3. will help accelleration from a stop
4. actually improve gas mileage (less air resistance)

window tinting is the best advice. for all my windows to get tinted was about 200bucks. makes your car look tons better. deffinately get a stereo system, nothing gets the ladies attention better than a loud bump in the trunk.lol. maybe a shift ****,<Cheap. or an exhaust tip? also look into the factory spoilers if you dont already have one, those spruce up the car quite a bit. and as far as the blue lights for your gauges, just do a search and they should pop right up with a DIY.

IMO, dont mess with the interior lights - they look good how they are.
If you want, lower it and get some nicer 16's and keep it clean.
Maybe, if your bored right now, black out your headlights. It costs like 4 bucks.

~~ Prices are approximations ~~
Black out the headlights ~ $10
Muffler tip ~ $25
Grill tons on ebay ~ $30 shipped
Oem style fogs also on ebay ~ $30 shipped
Lowering springs (until you can do it properly) ~ $100 for sale section
Tint ~ $200
*05 tails look better than any aftermarket ones I'd leave them if I were you

Do you guys have any pictures of any of the things you're talking about? It would help if I could see pics of what my car could potentially look like, especially the "blackout headlights". I need to see what's legal for tint here.

suspension....i got my springs, struts, camber kit and alignment done for a little over 500. It was worth it! also a SRI. its not a big gain but it makes the car feel a lil more perky
Heh, I believe you that everyone is doing the DIY Blackout Headlights... but can you show me pictures of perhaps the differences between stock, and the DIY? What exactly does it do anyways? I've never seen or heard of it, so I'm just trying to figure it out.

some states it's illegal to tint over the third brake light. that's why they cut around it. if you notice cars that have tint stock like the RX300, where the third brake light in the window is, there's no tint either.
short shift kit...from $20 -$180 extremely easy mod, makes shifting a lot more fun...but then you get used to it..but then notice it again after a little while..or after driving someone elses car. revo-ss or maybe b&m?
I agree. This is just about all you can do, at least visually, to our cars without making them look like rice. If you lower your car make sure you drop the front just a tiny bit more than the rear, our cars tend to get a saggy *** if not lowered properly.

There's a HUGE misconception on this topic... The rear end is actually not sagging, the arches are just different front to rear, so although the rear LOOKS lower than the front, the car is actually at the right height... but most drops look saggy in the back because of this
