Hi i'm new to this site.... I drive a 2003 hyudai santa fe, ya hyundais aren't the most popular, but for some reason mine has been pretty reliable ( i swear, i haven't had any problems>....) anyway i'm selling my hyundai and i want to buy a honda. Looking for something 5-6 thousand $$. I had 2 hondas before, an 88 civic LX automatic, and 91 accord ex station wagon, (yes also auto). but because of my bad driving in high school i had to sell my honda and stop driving for a year...now i'm all grown up, and more mature so that shouldn't be a problem.....anyway any suggestions on wat to look for in the market?

seriously?? the 01-05 vics have a d17 engine which doesn't respond well to bolt on mods. personally, i'd look at an older si.

hmm. not sure wat i'm looking for...( i think i'm just looking for something dats clean and has lots of potential for future mods)i deffinetly want a manual tranny. si's are way too hard to find and usually cost alot more money than what i have in cash. what kind of motor does a regular 2000 civic ex have??

hmm....5-6 thousand dollars...and i can't really travel too far from houston..I found a pretty nice ex coupe for sale down the road from me for 5500 i'm gonna take a look at later. in reality it doesn't have to be an si, i'm not trying to be racer at the moment but at the same time i don't want some 4 door dx, lx, vp automatic econobox either. a decent 7th gen with a manual tranny (preferably coupe) is a good start for me.
can u tell me more about the 7th gen and d16 and what advantages and dis advantages it may have and what are popular mods (swaps) etc...that are most common on 7th gens.

7thgens have a d17, most popular swap is a k20 out of a rsx-s. the d17 handles mods like a bitch, nothing works outside of turbo.

just got back from checking out a 2000 civic ex coupe 5-speed with 115k. looks and drives pretty good..completely stock. 1 owner car and the owner is like 50 yrs old so he probably took care of alot better than a the average teenager would.....no mods.... he's askin 6 obo. he said he'll take 5500...
dats within my price range and it's a 6th gen..

well my mom's 99 infiniti i30 had 145k miles on it when she sold it a year ago..and its cuz all the commuting she used to do... on the highway. and it still drove ran perfectly at that high mileage, then again it did have a rocksolid VQ30 engine ( nissan's best v6 engine ever ). i wonder if the d16 is that good... anyway,this guy said dat he used it to commute to his job in highway....or so he said..

sorry guys, my mind has been out to lunch lately..all this time i was asking about the 7th gen and i meant 6th gen...... yes i'm a dummy i know....

anyway, wat i was saying is that 115k miles doesn't seem so over the top...(it my be one of the reasons he's selling it for 5500, another reason is he bought a brand new 07 murano SL awd and is in debt big time and needs cash pretty fast.) it's a seven year old car, that means he drove about 16.5k miles every year average which isn't a low average but isn't too high either....the car checked out with my mechanic, but i still need to run a carfax...(crap, another 20bucks) anyway,i haven't made my final decision and i'm gonna look some more but, so far this car has checked out pretty good.......

if the body is in good condition you should be good....also with carfax...although it helps little...

yes, the body looks very good except for a few nicks and scratches on the front bumper..the color is white so it's hard to see the nicks and scratches but easy to see any black rub marks there are...(which can be buffed out hopefully). the interior seems really nice too.
