look what i just installed
no more stupid empty spacers. i picked this up for $80 today from dealer, perfect match, plug and play harness. took a while to figure out and the console had to be taken out. VERY tight fit but it snapped in. Also changed the ring around the lighter and pocket light to red instead of stock green. Pics coming tonight.

Nice to see you found color matched finally. But it looks alittle off imo. I'm really liking my black one.... and now you must pm me how you hooked up the lights!
Are you taking my DIY away from me!?!
Go ahead.... cause i'm sure you'd make it better anyways. I took another look at it but didn't wanna screw anything up messing with the wires.
I'll post a pic up of mine with the oem black interior thing going on tomorrow.

I'm not trying to steal your thread gearbox.
Here's what the black one looks like, i swapped the lighter out for the power outlet so i can still use my radar detector and charge my phone sometimes.
BTW: you can find the black one on ebay for about $25. And it doesn't matter if you have a coupe or sedan... the part #s are the same.

^^^ I'm not so sure about that, first cause a paper came with it and said not to be used as a sourse of 12v power, and cause the interals of the socket are different. The lighter one has a heat source on the bottem... and as soon as the lighter heats up enough there are two portions that spring out to release the lighter... don't know how to word that, sorry. The actual lighter never actually touches this heated portion...
I know some are... but some aren't made to do both... and from fooling around with it during the install.... it looks like all it's gonna do is burn the heck outta anything put in there. I wasn't gonna take a chance.

I'm sure you can see some difference from just looking inside... and comparing them... but when swapping them out.. i got a good look to compare... it looks light the lighter socket is only used to make heat and eject the lighter once it's hot enough... the 12v socket passes current...

moms 92 accord that came with a lighter also works as a 12v socket. i really dont like plugging in stuff anyway. ill just tap it to the wires if thats the case, like neons
I'm wanting to tap my wire for my radar detector... but i still need an outlet for my phone and what else might come up. I def don't want the lighter there... knowing my luck... somebody would go to use it and drop it and burn something. I smoke... but don't like it in the car... i'll never use the ashtray cause i know how they can get.
Gearbox... can you show me where you connected the wires for the lights... i couldn't find where you said in your other post.

where was a plug for the harness near the underdash fuse box. and actually i ended up unplugging the ring light cause it was way too bright compared to everything. i left the door light cause its hidden anyway.

Now you did it, Gearbox. That was the mod that broke the camel's back. The transmission is going to fall out of your car!
Looks nice. Ashtrays are always handy for coins and stuff too.
