Yay for Junkyards
Yay for Junkyards
Alright, so my Fiance's dad owns a major Junkyard\Towing\Impound Company. I go over to his yard this morning to pick up a pair of tails for her 05 Sedan since she backed into my Jeeps trailor hitch just as his flatbed is pulling in with.....
2005 Acura RSX Type-S.
It had been involved in a spin out where the rear end met up with a pole and was totaled out by the insurance company (labled unrepairable unibody).
I'm pulling the engine\tranny\etc. tonight. Anything else I should rip off of this? I know seats and the such, but I'm still new to this whole Honda thing.
Plus- has anyone ever put an RSX-S wing on one of our Coupes? The wing actually made it through the accident.

luckiest civic owner alive!
oh yea, and get the RSX-S badge off the back.... so you can have a CIVIC-S

Well- I was able to pull the engine\tranny\5-lugs all yesterday. Going back today to see if he'll let me get away with anything else.
The interior is a dark grey \ black colour. The rear passanger side wheel was trashed by the curb that it hit on it's way to the pole so the stock wheels are a no go. I've got to look at the seats to see if they're viable- aren't the side impact airbags in the seats on the RSX? I saw that all of the airbags in the car went off but didn't look too close at anything inside of it- was too excited to get that K out of there!

I've spent the past two days strippin the hell out of this thing!
I took the checklist from a bunch of the different K20 swaps out with me on the initial parts binge and have pretty much everything I'm going to need as far as that goes. I located a single stock rim on Ebay and have that picked up, so the RSX wheels are mine now too. The airbags popped everywhere so the steering wheel, seats, etc. I'm going to take the above idea and strip the bag itself and re-seal the compartment with some type of adhesive and use 'em. Unless there's a way for us to be able to use the side impact airbags?
When I got back today, someone had already came and taken the entire body from the windshield forward. There was a guy waiting to see if I was taking the seats. When I loaded the engine into the shop I had a guy walk up and try and "take a weak engine" off of my hands for 800 bucks. lol. I'm new to this- but I'm no retard!
And has anyone else been out to junkyards in the Metro-Detroit area lately- there have been a TON of totalling accidents lately with awesome cars. Another junkyard by my apartment has been seeing a decent amount of DSM's, EMII's, and even a 350Z. I helped a friend of mine pull 3 complete 4g63's out of a junkyard about 20 minutes from there. 3 of one of the highest demand motors, complete, in running condition, with 5 speed AWD trannies. For those of you in the know- they were even six bolts!
