my short air intake ....
noobs....LOL, j/k..
he still has the stock filter box on there..it's the huge black box with the tube and velo stack sticking off the side of it...
even if there aren't any gains, it's still pretty nifty looking and I bet he can still use one of those no name strut bars...unlike me with the AEM cai....damn vertical throttle body > me

I'm not worthy....though I have heard that those bars tend to flex more than the neuspeed or other types...

Parts
1. stock air box with KN filter ($44 Pepboys).
2. 2 1/2"ID with 45 deg bent aluminum pipe (free)
3. 2 1/2" to 3" pipe connector with clamps ($7 Pepboys)
4. velocity stack ($12 Autozone)
5. heat shield ($10 Autozone)
6. AC strut bar ($30 from recycler)
Performance
1. sound = little louder than stock (stock air box keeps the sound quieter)
2. power = I can definately feel at the low end ,.... but not much on top speed though....
3. air = still sucks hot engine air ....
Next plan:
1. remove the KN air filter but keep the stock air box closed with gasket.
2. remove velocity stack.
3. connect straight pipe instead of 45 deg so (I want filter to grab cold air coming from the wheel well)
4. connect the open cone air filter with the heat shield.
I will post some pictures after the modification.
I had the ebay CAI ($40), and the Injen CAI ($50 from member) installed before, but I felt this mods is the better all around. I don't know what it is but ,.... that stock air box gives nice gain on low end compare to straight pipe.

I think it looks great but from a deeper look you might want to figure a way to close up the open end. What I mean is if a leaf gets into the engine which in Michigan is an everyday thing then that leaf might go into the open pipe and clog it. Not get into the engine per say but it will restrict the air flow. Just my thought. If you remember the stock setup Honda made it so the open had a lower area for the leaves and stuff under the filter. Just something to think about.
