Rep Power: 278 Depends on the price the new SI with navi will bring. I may wait a year and watch the forums for grinding transmissions, etc.
At this point, my 02 EX is paid off. I'm tempted, but in no rush to trade in just yet.

Rep Power: 228 It's basically a simple question of time vs money
All dealers are in it to turn a profit and this means that even the best dealer will lowball you on trade in value if they are doing their job
The upshot is obviously you can drive up in your old car and drive away in the new one without breaking a sweat
If you don't mind throwing a couple (or few if they really get you) thousand dollars away for the convenience of swapping out your car on the spot and being done with it then trade in. If you would rather get every penny your car is worth and do not mind the effort involved in cleaning it up, tuning it up, advertising it, coordinating visits with potential buyers, playing used car salesman yourself, closing a deal etc etc, then sell it yourself and head to the dealer with the money instead
Personally I would never trade a car into a dealer if my life depended on it! I am the kind of guy that wants every penny my car is worth and am not bothered by the process of selling one myself. My girlfriend on the other hand can not stand the thought of going through all that when she could just drive up and trade it in without lifting a finger.
So, there you go, it's pretty much up to you what you prefer, how much your time potentially spent selling it is worth versus how much you will take a hit on trading it in. There is really no wrong answer, just depends on what kind of person you are...
Peace

Rep Power: 228 PS I've gone to see the new '06s rolling off the truck at my local dealer, the cars' potential is impressive, but (just me) I think they are a big step backwards in the looks department - especially up front, I could almost build a house on that grille opening!
I will be happy keeping my Magnesium '04 Civic EX Coupe...
(at least until we see what the 9th gen looks like )

Rep Power: 0 My 02 ex will be in my posession for a few more years. It's tempting, but hopefully I'll wait till the 09 or 10 si is out...unless I give into the temptation of course.

Rep Power: 399 2 engines and a transmission rebuild later, I'll think about getting rid of this one. Too much money and time into it to change to a Honda Ion.

Rep Power: 279 I'm probably never going to buy another NEW Civic in my life. My 02 is going to be paid off in like 4 months, I'll be out of college (finally!) and looking to MOVE UP in the automotive world not sideways. Dont get me wrong, I have loved my Civic and all Civics alike, however, its just not what I want to represent in my adult life. I'm sure I'll have an old hatch sitting around at all times though getting money thrown at it.. just not a new one as a daily driver.

Rep Power: 0 I can't believe you guys actually like the new civics. I think our civics look so much better than the new civic or si. Oh well i'm not going to give my baby up for nothing. I'm glad there coming out, becaues the k20 are going to be cheaper now

Rep Power: 0 i think i'll be getting an '06. test drove one and there is no comparison. however i am going to wait a few months till they refine any problems there may be with them...i bought my '01 right away and have had a lot of rattles and little problems. but the '06 is definately a better ride.
