500 $ improvement
500 $ improvement
I have almost exactly 515 dollars to spend and I wanna put it into my car.
I'm wondering what I could buy for around that much that would best improve my Horsepower. Maybe a few things, whichevers best.

I'm only 17 and have a 96 Civic DX. I know its not a performance car and all, but I have a craving for speed.

How much hp could I get out of an exhaust kit?
^^ITs true, a better exhaust isnt that much better unless you've done some engine work to compensate for the amount of extra flow through the exhaust. And for the thread starter, just save for some boost.
I need TP for my bunghole

An AEM short-shifter would help u accelerate alot faster and itz neither expensive nore hard-to-install, ur second upgrade could be a CAI, u will probably get 2-3hp with it & if u r smart it won't cost much, & it'll give u some nice sound too. Then keep the rest of ur money and like others said save for boost , or a swap.

Its about time we get some more people from sierra vista in here, but anyways intake exhaust would probably be your best bets, but try and save your money for some boost if you really want hp gain

You're not going to get much more than 20 hp max with $500, unless you want to spend it on a nitrous kit.
Personally, I'd get a few things that are cheap that help performance indirectly, as well as a few other things...
CAI- $50
Header- $100
Exhaust- $200
Short Shifter & shift ****- $50
+ $100 left over. Next on the list would be cheap rims ($300) Neons ($50) lowering springs ($100) and tint ($150)... not in that order. Than again, I am not all that much into HP, and I am not willing to spend $3k on boost.
Whatever you do, good luck...
And yes, you can find all that stuff above for around those prices, if you keep your eyes open and are thrifty...
