um there are no cons. the only con would be installing it. lightweight flywheel is an awesome mod to do. it helps your engine get to the higher rpms faster. basically less parasitic part for the engine. you will feel a difference. also underive pulleys ,cam gears and limited slip differentials do the same. good luck

STOP TALKING out of your A$$! You don't help anybody here that way. From your first couple of post to Honda inventing variable valve lift to now this.
There are cons to lighter flywheel, like messing up your engine cause it will be unbalanced (if you go too light).
yes wrong forum, but u people are dumb. the lighter the flywheel, the more u will bog and the higher u need to launch at to not bog. a 12lb flywheel is a good street weight, going into 8's and such, u will need to launch SUPER high not to bog the engine, i wouldnt go this light unless it was a track only car.

Just to jump in, 99% of shops out their now wont lighten a flywheel without balancing it too. Its all in 1 price, Lightened/balanced flywheel.
and for the guy using the ACT clutch and flywheel, They are beautiful arent they. I used a ACT HD clutch/ 12 lb flywheel on my old CRX, and they were AMAZING. held together SUPER well, even at 7200 RPM( non-vtec b18a) and they are amazing at customer service. Buddy blew his clutch hub up launching at 9000 RPM. they sent him a brand new hub /bolt, and an appology. amazing company, even tho they are expensive i dont think id ever buy another brand of clutch.

For info. on who 'invented' variable valve timing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_valve_timing
You can take your pick of either GM or Fiat w. Honda refining. If I'm not mistaken, the first production car to feature VVT was a Toyota, but I could be mistaken. This is a bit off topic.

I think its already been covered, or you could just use the search feature.
The pros are that you rev faster, bog less and lose less energy to having to generate more rotational inertia to keep the wheel spinning. The cons are that it makes things less streetable and that you may rev too high.
In short theres nothing wrong with a flywheel that isn't lighter than say, 11lbs? for everyday use, and while you're in there, you might as well install a better clutch too.

yes it will make a difference. But i dont think its worth it unless u are racing. Taking out the tranny, then the clutch and all that to get at the flywheel then paying to get it lightened and re-installing is a lot of work. Unless u are already down their maybe doing a clutch or something, i do not think its worth it.
I just burnt my tongue

if any of u guys actually studied autotech and tuning than u would know lightening a flywheel is completely useless and makes a car hard as hell to drive...yes ur car will sound like a monster when u rev it but it'll be hard to just do plain city driving...lightening a flywheel is not very smart unless u have massive horsepower and a good clutch
