I had a sledghammer fall on my hood. I was contemplating getting a cf hood anyway. So I patched the dent and painted it semi gloss black to get an idea what it would look like on a ralley red car and frankly i was amazed at how nice the contrast looks! I may get one down the road but for now the hood looks good. I had matching red eyebrows so i painted them semi black to match too.

I would get a c/f hood, no offence, but IMO a painted black hood looks cheap... or a wrecked car that was fixed using junk parts... dont know, your call, just the way I feel...
EDIT: post pics, maby you will change my mind, lol... It is hard too say w/o pics...
