my shocks are blown
should of gotten coilovers.... now you gotta buy new shocks, take everything apart again and redo the job OR pay someone again to take all the stuff off. coilovers like Teins would of been maybe 100 bucks more expensive in the end..

^ yah you are right about that... now the money i spent on it could have gotten myself coilovers... i didn't expect the shocks would be blown that soon... i was hoping for like a year...
yea, i want to know how you can tell if the shocks are blown cause i am planning on getting s-tech or eibach sport springs and need to see if i should save up for some new shocks as well

i heard noise coming from the front suspension and the guy at garage kwai said it sounds like the shocks are blown, 'cause he couldn't find anything wrong with it... but i don't feel that bouncy at all..

if there is noise coming from the front and the ride is not bouncy it's just your springs...remember lowereing your car means you have taken 2 coils or more out of the area a stock spring would sit, so there is some movement in there...I have noise on my Neuspeed Race and my shocks are fine.

two ways to tell your shocks are blown:
1. the ride is really bouncy, or when the car is parked, and you push down on one of the corners of the car from outside the car seems to bounce a lot more then it did before.
2. theres a huge puddle of the shock fluid under each of the strut towers when you pull out of the parking spot.
#2 is how i found out.

i have my tein s tech for over a year now and everything is in great shape, i do hear a little squeaking once in a while but didn't think it has anything to do with the shocks. now that i've read what you guys posted i am even more relieved knowing that my shocks are fine.

hm... ok glad that it's not the shock then...
so the knocking noise i hear when driving over bumps, is it normal? i have the auto shop guy to look at the springs for me this morning and he said everything is ordinary...
i can ignore the noise?

Mine are starting to go too. I've had skunk 2 coilovers for about 2 years now and raised for the winters and slammed about 3 - 3.5 " from spring to fall. Ride was fine. Now my shocks and hitting bottom on every hole/bump, it sux, but what can you do. Salt Lake roads don't help either. Sorry to hear yours went so fast. Time to spend a couple hundred dollars again !

THe ride being really bouncy doesn't mean blown shocks... It means they are under stress. When you start hearing clicking and you always hear a loud boom every time you hit a bump... then you can worry.

read being bouncy could very likely mean blown shocks because they are no longer performing their job and dampening the motion of the springs. due to this, the springs can travel further and for an extended period of time, leading to a bouncy ride.
you can always tell if the sturts are blown if there is fuild all over the struts and stuff...i noticed that on my buddys when he had genaric coilovers on his car and it was f*ckin messy as ****

i rode on eibach spotlines for around a year and everything was fine.....
push down hard on the front of your car and if it doesnt bounce back up real loosely then ur fine.
