Tail light Conversions [more PICS updated]
skiboard-
i have a black (NHBP/B) SEDAN also and i was wondering...can you tell that the nighthawk black pearl blue and the black tint are diff colors? and did you clearcoat the entire tails or just the top half?
also, have you had any problems the with the 3rd party visibility of your top lights (i.e. running lights, or daytime braking)? i've been thinkin about doing something like this for a while (tinting the tails), but i don't want grief from the fuzz since i live 2 blocks from the station, and i drive by the fuzz patrol all the time.
otherwise, i've been thinkin about taking apart the taillights and blacking out the inside (the crome, not the red outer shell) that does nothing except make the circles look shytty from the side. it will look dark red everywhere when done. but i'd have to see what i can paint in there, because i don't think i can paint the turn signal/reverse area...
^^input anyone?

hey SOV you got a DIY for that mod?
I'm a hands-on person so it was fun and pretty simple for me. was just being creative. All I really did was clear the reflectors so to say
1. Get yourself a pair of 04/05 coupe tailliaghts and a pair clear altezzas for the coupe (I used the Sonar "donut" types). I used a hotair gun to melt the glue and the altezza housing melted too but left the clear lens intact.

2. trim the clear lens. I used a Dremel to cut off the bottom section to match the height of the reflectors in the oem taillight. Trim off the same amount from the oem taillight where you'll be putting the clear lens on. Then glue them together with industrial adhesive (I used 3M i think).

3. Use Bondo or something to fill up any gaps/uneveness between the oem lens and the cleared section. the mask it up and paint over the areas you can see the glue or bondo. Then clear coat the entire thing, you know what i mean. don't forget to seal all around with silicon.

The trunk crease version is great, but then the lights seem a bit too flat and Evo-looking on the coupe and you have to deal with turn signal somehow. I love the "horseshoe" shape that the 01-03 tails have, most of you probably know what I'm talking about. I didn't wanna lose that.
I still haven't taken better photos, but I think this will have to wait for my Mugen lip in a few more weeks, it's a shame cuz I just had my car waxed before the winter, we'll see...
