Why I love my Honda
Because I own a Ford too: enough said.
But get this
April I blow the motor at Etown on my record breaking run,(12.51@107) oh well. take a month to remove all the mods and get it back to stock. Then I call Ford. Bring it in for warranty repair, could not sleep at all because I though they would void the warranty. Well They said I bent a valve in the cyclinder head and they replaced it under warranty. Get the truck back (3 weeks later)and it still is making a noise and not feeling right, So I bring it back. It is there for a week and they can not figure it out, the tech goes on vacation for 1 1/2 weeks and the truck just sits. finally yank the motor and disassemble to find out cyclinder 7 and 8 piston rings were ceased up. So they order a new motor under warranty
and Call me a few days later to pick it up. Now we are running on over 2 months down. I pick it up and it is making a noise. I call the dealer, they give me the run around about a loaner car)(all SVT get free loaners) because of all the money they have spent on my truck and say I must bring it down to have they look at it first before I can get an appointment. I think it is a loose plug which is a common problem on these trucks. They think it is an exhaust leak, I take a day off spend 3 hours there and 3 techs working on it could not figure it out. I bring it to my Lightning tuner for a quick diagnose, with the stetoscope he determines it is either a bent flywheel or something wrong with cyclinder 8. Well sure enough on the way home CABOOM the spark plugs shoots out. Now I have a motor with less than 1000 miles getting another new cyclinder head. The truck only has 30K miles. Now it is August and still do not have a running truck that runs me about 800 a month between payment/insurance
2 hondas and it has never been to the dealer.

800$ a month .. I think I'd buy another civic and swap+turbo it.. but then again, maybe you need the truck for transporting things .. Who knows, but good luck getting your Ford fixed. Hopefully nothing is wrong with the cyclinder after a new head.
I sure wish my car was newer

Reliability is a nice thing to have. I'm laughing right now because when I was looking for a car, I was about ready to buy a 5.0 Mustang that had quite a bit done to it. My parents knew I liked the look of the new Civics and told me they'd buy it for me if I didn't buy the Mustang. Hello, Civic!
What mods did you have to the Lightning? And was that a personal record-breaking run or what?

My last car was a '96 Taurus SHO with the 3.4litre V8 in it. (yes, they put v8s in sho's) Nice car, but I traded it off for the Civic back in 2001. A year or so later I'm reading the v8sho website and I find out that the dohc cams on the car had a habit of BREAKING at 60k to 80k miles. Mine was right around 60k when I got rid of it. Luckily, I hadn't run into that problem, yet. So I'm glad I got rid of the Ford and got another Honda. I had a '93 Prelude back in the 90s and I've regretted trading it off ever since.

I have a 4lb lower pulley, Apten ported and polished blower and upper intake, 160 thermostat, CAI, bassani catback, traction bars, drop shackles, 2 program flip chip, sure i forgot something.
Yeah my best run was 12.84 @106. I had it dyno tuned at 415 rwhp/ 489 lb trp and then went to Etown the next day. Problem was when I had it dyno tuned I only had my street side tuned because I did not have any race gas, Then I went to the track with 1/4 tank of 93 and add about 1/2 tank of race gas and ran the race program at the track. I think I did not have enough octane and things go real hot , because I melted (yes they were melted) 2 plugs, the electrode cracked off, f'ed up the heads and the pistons. I ran 12.54 @107 and I let off the gas about 3/4 down the track when I heard the engine f'ck up. So I am figuring that was at least a 12.25 run if all went well.

The car was WAY heavier than the previous generation, so it was slower than the V6 SHO, even with the V8 (235hp).I just visited the v8sho site and I found this. It's a farewell letter from a SHO owner who just got rid of their car.
" I've truly enjoyed my 97 SHO (While it ran), I've also paid over 14K in repairs to Ford over the past 5years, three Cams, Tranny, A/C. No one in CA was willing to weld the cams until Chris and his Dynamic Duel in Placerville came along. But unfortunately that was too late, cam failure #4 came last year and the car sat on the side of the house for 16 months. Chris's Duel said this slip caused damage and I just couldn't see spending another 6K+ to get the car up and running again."
...so, ladies and gentlemen, THAT IS WHY I will not own another Ford and why I got another Honda.
my friend has a 03 SVT Cobra and his piston had a hole the size of a dime in it because he was goin like 150ish mph and his fuel ratio went too lean and baBOOM!!!! It took my friend's dad 5 thousand bucks and about 3 months to get it fixed because he voided the warranty with pulleys, CAI, exhaust and a short shifter. but that was his dumb falt for goin over 150mph
