Crashed My Baby!

Well I got into a accident today! =( Well this is what happened.I was driving by Mount Holyoke College Doing 35 (speed limit) behind 3 other cars.Well the first 2 hit their brakes hard becuase a pedestrian decided to start walking into the cross walk(it was a signaled walk ,and she decided not to hit the button to make teh light turn red) then the car in front of me braked hard also and I had to do teh same.Well I don't have ABS and my tires were starting to show a lil wear (30kmiles)well it was raining and my car slid and shuddered for 1 1/2 car lengths and hit the car in front of me! Well,I hit and had blaked out for a second. My passenger air bag deplyed and my drivers didnt for some reason and smashed my head into the steering wheel.Well The damage doesnt look too too bad,but the winshield is ****ed,The bumper and hood and whacked and the radiator, alternator are pushed into the header. Not to mention the frame is bent and teh cad shudders like carzy when I had to drive it home. I just hope to hell the insurance company will list this as a total loss.So I can get a new 5sp EX coupe or an RSX type S depending on my finances! but here are some pics! oh and my interior is now all soaked in coffee too,so everything is stained!

I hope they will...I mean my driver side airbag didn't deploy though.I wonder if there was something wrong with my car.Or just a fluke thing? But yeah none of my kids were with me thank god.I just don't want to have them "fix" it up knowing is was totally skrewed up and that once it's paid off in 1-2 years I wouldn't be able to get much a trade in off of it.

If the impact doesn't hit the sensors the bag will not deploy.

They won't total it by what I see. I have never seen a car with that minimal damage not be fixed. Sorry. I know you would've enjoyed having an RSX.

Although you should do something about the driver air bag not deploying. This is cause to call Honda and b**** them out. I would also file a lawsuit. Say that now you temporarily become insane due to the damage that was caused to your head because of the banging on the steering wheel. You can have two airbags deployed and the insurance won't total it. Don't mark my words but I am just basing that on what I know.

Good luck and good that you were ok.

Frames can be fixed and so can chassis. It all depends on how bad it is. From what I see you will probably be set back about 2500-3000 for all the repaids. You would need radiator, alternator, bumper support, bumper, new windshield, airbag, etc.

If you engine would've gotten really banged up then you would have a chance to total it. Go to the garage and get a hammer and destroy it. j/k

let us know what happens

geez....glad you didn't get a concussion (sp?)
but shouldn't the safety restraint refrain you?

and even though u weren't tailgating...they still hold you liable

Glad you are ok, but the airbag should have gone off. There have been many complaints of the airbag(s) not going off, even in a major accident. Honda does not want to aknowledge that there is a problem. Hopefully enough people will sue them for failure of the airbag system. I am honestly worried that mine will not work should (god forbid) I need it. You really should look into it. Also, unless someone was sitting in the passenger seat, that airbag should NOT have gone off.
Good luck with your car.

uh...all new cars have airbags. You didnt see the SRS-Airbag tags on your sun visors and the logo on your steering wheel?

BTW, I dont really see that damage as cause for totaling your car....usually they only total it if the damage exceeds the cost of the car.

I got in a minor fender bender.. about 7,000 dollars worth of damage and it wasn't totalled.. The lady that hit it, in a crv, scratched the top of the air bag sensor.. but that is neither here nor there..

basically, if i had blown the airbag civic = byebye..

Glad to here you are okay though.

Don't worry about the cleaning and stuff. When the insurance gives you a quote or tells you what the deal is you most likey will leave it at a shop. once that is done they will fix it and clean it too. Dont' worry

It doesn't seem like they would total the car after looking at it. Bumpers, hoods, winshields can be replaced for not that much $. But that frame damage is the big one. Also the engine being pushed back a couple of inches will help out with the added costs. Hopefully they do total the car and give you money so you can buy the RSX!

sorry to hear this man

i hope your insurance is better than my buddy's. he got into a crash, and has a 93 jetta, and the damage was 3600 and his car was worth 4000, and they fixed it up. he also hit someone from behind who SLAMMED the brake. he got a new hood, front bumper, front lights, and they had enough stuff to fix under the hood, but his insurance company said forget it and fixed it up, which pissed him off, so i hope the same dont happen to you man. good luck!
