I Know I Am Not Going To Trade It In, But If This Sounds Good To You Check It Out Because The Main Reason And Sole Purpose For Them Doing This Is Because They Need Cars For Memorial Day And Have Better Chances Of Makin Money On Used Cars Then New Ones.

yea right, they will put it on the lot for 14 13 and sell it for 11 - 12 g's. Atleast i got 100 dollar coupon to spend at the honda maybe on a new tire since one of mine keeps losin air every two days.
this thread is funny. the only reason they sent the letter is to get you in to buy a new car, they could care less about your trade. they need to put more cars on the road for the month, thats why they want you to come in between the 28-31st. oh, and free appraisal? they are always free. also, for the month of may, you should be paying no more than $13,549 for a LX coupe manual transmission. it will be around $14,049 in june.
hustlelikemofo - of course they are gonna take in a trade for as little as possible and try to sell it for as much as possible. its a business and they are trying to make a profit...is there anything wrong with that?
the best thing a person can do before buying a car is research.

Trading in a car should be the last resort...... they always give you like 2 grand less then what you expected
i used to be a car salesman, its a scam, just trying bring you on the car lot so they can try to get you to buy a car from them. its used to be funny when people would come in with theses letter and the credit would even pass. even if you do want a new car their not give you extra money for your car, just trying to bring you in.
Guys...seriously....this is a marketing ploy. The appraisal is always free, that is how they appraise your trade in. If you don't trade it in they never tell you, "Well, that'll be $35 for the appraisal". It is business, they want you to bring your car in, they convice you to trade it in, you buy a new car and the salesperson gets paid. Then...especially it being the Memorial Day weekend (major sales weekend for the auto industry) they will clean up your trade-in and put it on the lot for sale. They do this every day of the week, it is not like you have to wait for the weekend they wrote in the letter to trade your car in. If they are a bit shady, they can get it on the lot as a CPO before Monday. This is not a special deal, you were on a mailing list based on demographics that your sister wasn't. They don't care where it was serviced....except if you keep taking it back to the $tealership for servicing they know they can milk you for all kinds of money (yes I am still sore about the $130 oil change and tire rotation). They are not going to make you any special deals on a new car....except that they are trying to push volume this weekend so maybe $1k less than you would have paid, unless you let them talk payments to you. Never agree on "payments" always get the bottom line. Anyway, don't be too hurt about trading your car in if you do. If you sell it yourself then you come in with the cash and pay the full amount of sales tax. If you trade it in then you only pay taxes on the difference. for example, you buy a new LX for $13k. No trade you pay taxes on $13k. If you trade your car in, they give you $8k, you only pay taxes on $5k.
Bottom line the letter is just a marketing come on. Memorial Day Weekend is a good weekend to buy a car if you do your homework and come in armed with information. Go to Edmunds, get the fair market value, find out what your trade is worth (get both the KBB and NADA values), figure out if it would be more beneficial for you to sell your car outright or trade it in. If the difference in the taxes is only $200 or so, it may be worth it to you to not have to put up with the hassle of advertising and selling your car (not to mention the time involved). Best thing is to do all that research and then start e-mailing different internet fleet salespeople from the dealerships in your area. Let them know you have farmed this to a number of dealerships and see who comes in the lowest.
Don't be mad at the dealership sales area, they are there to make money and sell you a car.
