$726.58 Later!
Damn, I hate throwing away money!! Before spring finally sprung on Central Ohio this week, it snowed like a beast and I slid on a patch of ice on my way to work Monday morning. Put my car right into a curb at 25+. My front driver's side wheel smacked the curb hard and pushed my wheel in about 3 inches, cracked my front lip and tore up the fender wall. I was able to make it to work, but the ride vibrated at 35 mph. So I took it in that afternoon and they said I crushed the control arm and "popped the pin right out of it". Estimate: $726.58, which included parts, front end alignment, and HELLA labor charges!! So they fixed the ride in one day cuz' they had all the parts in stock. Bonus!! But it cost me out the a$$. And the lip and fender wall are still cracked and my rim has major curbage! I hate throwing away money!! I could've spent that money on sooooo much stuff! But I think it could have been a lot worse....like, say, if there was another car in front of the curb!!
Thanks, just wanted to vent! F@ck winter!!

I was in a similar situation, but I didnt curb the car, just skidded and hit a street sign post. Quite heartbreaking. Although my accident didnt end up with as many broken components, I still paid $450 with 0 new parts installed. Just paint, bend the fender and push the control arm back to place. But I feel ya man! But it is gettin better here in NY

Ahhh, you must live in that magical fantasy land where insurance rates don't skyrocket everytime you make a claim! I have a $500 deductible. So I really didn't think that having my insurance co. pay for the $226.58 difference was worth the amount I would have to pay in rate increases over the next three years until my claim is expunged.
