Almost curbed rims!!!!
So today my carpool guy had a CPU in front of his house and when he came to the passenger door he was like "do you mind dropping this off at my church on the way?" Since he is a family friend (45 yrs old) I had to oblige... AGAIN.
Anyway, since we had to make this little detour, I got to work half an hour later than I usually do and of COURSE as I suspected all the parking spaces were gone inside the parking lot.
So what I did was I parked next to a yellow curb (what people usually do when the parking lot gets full) and I get out of my car and triple check it before I leave.
Then I notice my front right rim (which I already scuffed when it rolled across my garage and fell face down on the floor) is like half a pencil width from the curb. That's like the distance from here ---| |----- to here. My rims kind of bend outward near the edge and the center so I'm frantically looking for damage (there is none) and then I sit there thinking and thinking what will happen if I try to pull out. Now if I were parallel parked, I'd be a dead man. Fortunately I was in a rear end space and I was 1 degree off from parallel to the curb. So I get back in my car and slowly back out with the steering wheel as straight as possible.... Then parked like 6 inches from the curb. PHEW. LOL

i've had a couple of close calls myself. i try to park inwards towards the curb, so on the other side if they fling the door open... it won't hit mine. strangely enough.... sometimes you get dings/scratches that you have no idea where they came from.
