It's a spray on window tint made by testors, for model cars. It was only about $8 or so for two cans and shipping from testors.com. Then just spray it on and be done with it. You can go the more expensive route and mix black pigment with clear coat and have a body shop put it on. It would actually probably turn out better but on mine you can't see any imperfections until you are literally on top of the lights.

I am thinking of cracking mine open and tinting the inside. Is that how you did it? If not do you see a problem with doing it that way.

Mine are tinted on the outside, the inside would probably work just as well, maybe even better. But if you're going to that much trouble to tint them, go to a tint shop and see if they have leftover pieces (big enough to cover the tails) to use on the inside. It would be just like tinting windows, and would probably work better than the paint. It's just easier to do the outside, that's why I did it.
