got backed into *UPDATED on 04/30/04*
ok i was at work today doing my thing when my boss comes in and say "jarrod someone is here to see you" so i go to the office and there is a 50 something year old guy standing there, so i'm kind of wondering what was going on, and he asks me if i drive the red honda, and i say yes, well i just backed into you. So i'm like oh ****, i go out to look at it and there is a huge hole in my bumper from this guys trailer hitch. So he gives me his business card and told me to call him when i figure out what i want to do. I guess i'll get to the point here. I need a new front bumper, what should i get? haha. Factory bumper costs $480.20 but i obviously don't wanna go stock again, so let me know what i should look into getting.

i would of had him sign something saying that he back into you and it was totally his fault but since he went and found you i dont really think hes gonna screw you over.
yea, at least he was nice enough to let you know he hit your car. My boy got his whole driver side door backed up into. Then the guy just left. Good thing there was a witness who left a note on his car, and later talked to the cops as well. Just be thankful things didnt go THAT way. So now, you have an excuse to get a body kit
.
. yeah, these days someone sticking around after they damaged someone else's property is unheard of. i'm glad you have an honest person who's willing to take care of his mistake.

yeah i was glad he came and told me because i was at work and wouldn't have even noticed until about 2 hours later. Me and my boss priced some things out to get a new bumper (ww avenger) with paint and labour and **** and it's gonna be approx $900 to fix. But the new bumper is gonna cost $630, so i'm gonna have to pay the $200 difference in bumper prices.

Well I got my final quote back from the body shop today and it's $934.11 to replace and paint my bumper, so I got home from work and called the guy that backed into me...he couldn't believe that it costs that much to fix a little hole. I had to explain to him that the bumper has to be replaced and he told me that he wants to ask around at some body shops to get a more reasonable price I guess. I'm thinking I should just go to the police and file a report about all of this and go through insurance instead of trying to deal with this guy. Any opinions?

Sweet man, I would take the money, cash it and then go get the bumper you want, hell if you do it right for a few more bucks you could get a whole kit and get it painted and put on.

The cost covers everything but I work at a shop that basically installs aftermarket parts so I'm doing the install myself but getting the money for a body shop to do it but the cost only covers a factory bumper so I'm throwing in the extra like $20(LOL) to get a sweet bumper, I'm not too sure of what to get yet though.

any little hit on our front bumper costs alot to fix.
last winter a lady slide into my car parked out front my house
she was going like 20km/h and i needed a front bumper, one headlight, and one fender (little bend in fender), and a few little things total damage was over $2500 (cdn).

wow, $2500, I'm gonna be so careful once I get my new bumper, although this wasn't my fault so it's not like I wasn't careful before. BTW any idea's of what bumper to get? it has to be urethane. Probably going to be ordering it tomorrow.

that looks like someone took a hole saw to your car, thats really messed up looking.
$950 is a lot, i remember my rear bumper costing me $600, and that included the reinforcement bars and stuff to.
i dont think a new front bumper, painted, should be more than $500, i think my local body shop charges $300 for the bumper, and $200 in paint/labor.
oh well, atleast you lucked out.

Well here we are, over 3 months later and my new bumper is going on Monday, first the bumper was back ordered from the States and then I had to get the guy to go pay but it's going on so I'm happy. Now I just have to get my rear one replaced.
wow man you must have the worst luck and/or park in the wrong places! The cold weather up there in Canada must make the bumpers crack more easily. An H2 hummer rear ended my at a red light and all the bumper got was a rash that mostly came off with turtle wax. My bumpers are really flexible
