Well ok I finally had all my cash saved to get ready to finally mod my car and I was talking to my mom about it and she was all for it, but then my dad starts yelling at me telling me I can't with no vailad point behind why I shouldn't besides "i didn't buy you a nice car to turn it into a racer" which I wasen't planing on racing it I just need more pick up all ya'll with stock Civics know what a pain in the *** picking up for the highway and stuff is. My dad can be such a **** sometimes, I would rather be driving my own pos that I can do what ever to then this Civic he bought me that he won't let me do **** to. Grrr so I guess I have a stock Civic for life...

Just tell him your not going to buy performance parts...Just gets wheels, body kit, headlights...or something like that..No engine mods.

Don't take it so seriously. Everytime I buy something for my car, whether it's a seven dollar oil filter or a $2,500 system, my mom goes, "That's it. I do not want you spending any more money on your car." So what do I do? Wait a week, talk to her about it, and she ends up not caring. Just make the point to him that there are a lot worse hobbies you could have.

When I bought the rims/tires, it was because "these tires are stickier and safer."
When I got the tint done, it was because "it keeps the temperature down and keeps the interior from fading."
When I got the strut tower bars, it was because "the chassis becomes safer because the car handles better. The frame won't buckle as easily with more bracing."

I think you get the idea. And the down feeling you get on stuff like this only lasts a day or two. Trust me, there are people who have a lot worse luck than you with modding cars.

Ok heres the deal, me and my dad discussed it furthur and he said I can only do cosmetic things like tint, lights, ect. no exuast or engine work. So what am I supposed to do? Can I make my car look nicer with no exaust or anything?

Haha! Same here! When i first thing i got for my car was rims witout my tellin my mom and she got really pissed. If u wanna mod ur car just lie to em and say that it makes the car handle better and lasts longer. Just mod it.....once u get it what can they do? Its already on the car

Exactly, would they rather be spending their own money on rehab or let you spend your own money on a hobby that you like and can get something out of?

Besides, as long as you can do suspension mods like XTREME2K2CIVIC said you can make your Civic into a great ride. Its not like it will give you 50 extra HP anyway, remember its a Civic, not a Ferrari. Good luck.

Listen to your parents. I would have a lot more money saved up right now for my town house if I left my civic stock. It's not worth it. The more you do, the more you worry about thieves, more people want to race you, and it's just worthless imo.

Just make the best out of this situation, you can learn alot about modding your car now while its your dad's pos, when one day you can buy your own car and know what you want to do to it and have the money saved from not doing any big mods on your engine.

My parents were the same why with my car that i purchased. They never saw the point in what i did and they realized i was gonna do it none the less so they finally got the point and allow me to do what i want with it. I could be spending in worse ways than this.

dude i got yelled at too soo many times...first i got yelled at for putting my system in..then for puttin on an exhuast and then an intake n stuff...in the summer i bought some springs my dad said if i put them on he will take the car back from me and sell it....(and he was pretty serious)...so now my dad is overseas for a couple months...i got the springs from another member on the site..im gonna install once they arrive...and hope my dad doesnt notice! i dont think he will notice the rsx sway bar or rear strut tower brace or the lower tie down either! so best thing to do is ..do the suspension first ..ur dad wont even notice the things!

LOL I don't know how i talked my mom into letting me get NOS

I just bought it off ebay and then when it got here i told her weird thing is that she knew exactly what it did. she told me to quit smoking Cigs and i got to keep it. I have yet to smoke sense than. I think all in all it worked out for the both of us. Just sit down and talk to them. Show them that this is what you want to do and this is why you have been saving money too. I also talked my mom into swapping out to a 5-speed. I just need to talk her into a turbo she is pretty against that.

Hey if they are not going to let you do anything to it... DO INTERNALS! They would never know!
