My awesome day (long)
ok, I don't know where else to put this ... I'm guessing "general car ramblings" kinda fit ... so I'm rambling...
anyway ... it started off when I went to pick up the package with my aem cai that another 7thgen member had sent me ... I open it ... however, I find that there is no tranny bracket and no throttle body hose. Ok, the throttle body hose I can do without ... but I need a tranny bracket ... anyway, I also noticed the filter was extremely dirty ... which didn't really bother me ... I'll just clean it ... so I got my k&n filter cleaner and proceeded to clean it. I rinsed out the filter ... and oiled it. However, I ended up putting way too much oil on ... and after an hour or so, it was still wet with oil ... idiot. Ok, so I go to pep boys to pick up a filter. Their filters were $27 each! Well I was an idiot and payed for it ... because I didn't have any other filters that I could use. So, I proceeded with the installation and without the tranny bracket, things became difficult ... so installation took me about an hour ... -_-;;;; ... finally reset ecu and everything ... everything was good to go
Now, I went to the honda dealership to pick up a head gasket for my Kamikaze header ... which I had planned to install this Saturday at the dealership from Josh. However, Josh was on his lunch and said it would only take like 20 min ... so I figured ... wtf, I'll just let him ... so we both installed my new Kamikaze header (onto the stock a-pipe/cat) ... turns out there was a leak ... we could both smell it (yummmmm) and see fumes .. oh well ... he said it would be ok to drive home and I'll have to take a look at it later ...
so I got home ... took a look at my stock header ... then realized ... o **** ... there's the donut gasket still on the header ... that's probably why it was leaking! So I proceeded to un bolt my header from the a-pipe ... and that took 30 min. (engine was HOT). Finally put the gasket on the header ... put it all back together ... (if anyone has ever installed a header on a 7thgen ex ... it's very frustrating ... the spring-screws on the a-pipe, that is) ... total time ... probably 60-90 min. I reset my ecu and was good to go
In the meanwhile ... the mail guy came with my downpipe during all this ... and my new shift ****. Damnit ... I could've just installed the downpipe ... oh well. I was frustrated after that and didn't wanna touch my car ...
----------------------------------
Kamikaze header ... it works great! ... I notice a little bit of power throughout the entire powerband ... I'm sure I'll notice more once I install my downpipe ... (which I'm installing when I get a new exhaust .... in a month or so) ...
so in a month or so's time ... I'll write a complete review on the header + downpipe (+ exhaust)
now which one should I get ... tanabe srm, tsudo fireball, invidia or greddy evo?
tanabe ... heard has good gains ... but loud
tsudo fireball ... it has 2.5" piping ... nuff said.
invidia ... gave 10 whp to a 350z and tons of hp to other cars ...
greddy evo ... one of the more quiet exhausts ... (useful if I'm gonna have a downpipe.......)

well.. i have a downpipe in my car.. and there are definate improvements throughout the high end of the powerband, but be weary of the crazy check engine light.. ive reset my ecu probably 5 or so times already, and everytime it turns on after 50 or so miles... grrrrr.. time to invest in an o2 simulator.. i got a friend that would probablly put one together for me.. if anyone else is interested PM me and i will try to get the ball rolling

so kamikaze header doesn't make your exhaust loud, its not like a race header. because i'm worried if i put that on my car and i do have the greddy evo exhaust. i'm worried that it'll be really loud and annoying
