Unhappy *sigh*....looks like i wont have my baby for awhile

yea, i got into an accident. my first.

well here's the story
today i woke up in a preety good mood, i showered, got dressed, and set off to work like any other day. on my way there i ran into traffic on the freeway. it was preetry much stop and go. any ways traffic finally starts to move and so i spped up, as i would say im approacing 50-60mph i see the astrovan in front of me slam on the brakes. so do i, but

!!!!BAM!!!!

the next i know im hit her, somehow nothing happened to her damn van, not even a single scartch. but as for my car, the front bumper is preety banged up, the right headlight is cracked, my altezza grill disapeared, and the hood is *****D up bad. as for under the hood my dad called me and told me that the battery moved around and something happened to the radiator and air condtioner. we arent sure yet how muych it will cost to fix or exactly what theproblems are but we are taking it in tommrow to get an estamate. i will post some pics tonight of he damage if possible. the worst part about it is knowing that if i had not been that close it wouldnt have happened. i know this is something that is all my fault and that doesnt really help the situaion at all, not to mention that i have nothing/nobody to blame for this.

im hoping some of you guys can give me some advise,

1) should i go with the insurance and a $500 duductable(sp?) and then the monthly rate increases

2) not tell the insurance and see how much it ill fix.

or 3 just have what ever is messed up under the hood fixed and then buy a new bumper and a new hood.

thanks for reading and thanks in advanced for any advice

i would recommend that you go thru insurance, unless you have mad amounts of cash. cuz that ish is gonna cost alot, im tellin ya now. all you would have to pay is the 500 deductible, and your rates won't increase that much. cuz the same exact thing happened to me, only my ride was totalled. my rates hardly increased at all...maybe like 25-50 bucks a month. doesn't seem like that much to me.....

Sounds like what exactly happened to me except I was stopped. Was at the stop light when the Explorer in front of me slammed on their brakes after hitting their gas right when I started to go. The dumbarse in front of them slammed on theirs that started it all. Then next thing u know.. it was too late for me to even reach my brakes but I still did...of course...not in time -.-

i just got my car back a week and a half ago. the hood was screwed, my left headlight and the grill. cost $3300 and was in the shop for 2 weeks. heres a few pics... hope yours isnt that bad

you are a girl... different story... lol

i would just see how much it would cost and if it's a grip then go through insurance... try to avoid the insurance company as much as possible cause if you're a guy and under 25, your rates are gonna go up...

damn, i know how you feel. i got into an accident yesterday as well, only i was the one that got rear ended. these girls behind me said they got lost and was looking at some map or some crap like that. your okay right? thats all that really matters.

and yah i would see how much it cost first cause insurance will rape you. did you work it out with the people infrojnt of you though? cause you dont want them claiming it to the insurance yet if you dont.

If your hood, grill and bumper is messed up, it'll easily go over 500 dollars. Go through insurance. And eat the insurance hike. Cus' if not, it's going to cost at least $1500 even with a good connection.
