I recently emailed Tein with a question..?Here is the question I asked and their response..
Xtreme2k2Civic - I recently looked into purchasing a set of Tein SS coilovers for my 2002 Honda Civic EX. The drop listed was only about 2" max I was wondering if you possibly carried
a different spring I could insert into my setup to lower the car 3" max... Just wondering because for the price you pay for the Tein's I really think the kit should lower a bit more.. Let me know asap.. Thanks
Tein USA - In regards to your question. We do have a shorter length spring that you can purchase to create a lower drop but it is not recommend. Our coilovers are made to balance and to create the maximum traction for racing usage. We did not design the coilover to lower the car three inches. Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension Products.

d00d, tein is about PERFORMANCE, not "style"
if they recommend the drop to be around 2" (they actually drop -2.5" in the front, and -3.X" in the rear), then the coilover is meant to operate under average conditions at 2".
again, they're all about performance, not making your ride look slammed. if you want super slammed, go with another product! Stick with Tein if you want the shiznit!

oh and they were made for just performance??? how do you explain race suspension... usually race suspension is slammed to where your 1" off the ground. but then again when it comes to race your driving on smooth road so you can..

THere is a such a thing as to low, even with race suspension. Especially when you are dealing with a Production car and not a purpous built race car. Ther is a point with all suspension where the Height becomes to low and nolonger allows enough suspension travel to be effective.

read through some of the posts and you'll see what you have to watch out for. unfortunately, being one of the first people to have B+Gs, our sets didn't come with instructions so we had to guess how to put them together. Joined: Feb 2003

why would anyone want to drop it 3"? you would get that ugly "wheel tucked under the fender" look. i have a 1.75" drop with stock wheels and have about a finger gap all around. now picture a 3" drop with 17"'s!
Im riddin on Tein SS with pretty much a no finger gap...I have the SSs set pretty firm so when I hit any bumps, I wont rub.
Im probably 2" off the ground with my bodykit...which is perfect because I just miss scraping all the time.
Now if I can just get to stop sqeeeking...

It's lateral movement of the car that causes it to shift, therefore squeak.
Since the bar eliminates almost all the side to side movement, it eliminated the noise.
My car hasn't squeaked since.

Mine sqeeeks when you sit in it too...and when you get out...and when you are driving straight...
Tein advertises that you dont need any sway bars, etc with their kits as the springs do that job. Tein's are also known for their pillow rides.
I dont want to go out (yet atleast) and buy that bar. Yes, I know it will fix it. However, 1. it makes the car ride alot rougher 2. Tein advertises you dont need products like that with the SS coilover system.
I'd be fine with a sqeek every now and then when cornering hard or what not...but it sqeeks nonstop for alot of people. I truley believe their is a design problem.

I jacked up my car for the first time with the bar and the most amazing thing happened! The whole left side of the car lifted up! It was amazing. I was expecting the drivers side front wheel to lift up and I would be able to throw in my jackstand, but the whole left side of the car lifted up in unison like a Nascar racer! This is one strong bar.
