HELP ASAP! Tie rod problem...

I'm installing my springs right now. I was taking off the 2nd front strut, and the nut above the cotter pin just spins the bolt.

I know this is a really dumb question but how can I get it off?

Thanks!

Thats strange... when I did my drop the tire rods didnt spin. In fact their not able to. I just removed the cotter pin and removed the nut without having to hold it with anything. Are we talking about the same part here? To my knowledge the tie rod is the only part that had a cotter pin in it.

okay, i had this problem when trying to put the nut back on. I just had to have someone use a pair of pliers to keep the bolt from spinning as I tried to tighten the nut. after i got it tightened somewhat, i could tighten it all the way without the pliers and it wouldn't spin. sort of just fixed itself. so, try using pliers to hold the bolt in place as you turn the nut.

OK my mechanic friend helped me out with a simple solution. He wedged a 2x4 in there to put pressure on top of the bolt, and it got right off.
