Perfect drop for a coupe with 17"
What would be the perfect drop for everyday driving. Also, I hear about some people cutting out a stock part. I dont know what this part is but is it necessary to do? Also, I know it is always good to have a camber kit but how long could I go without it without screwing anything up? I'm going to get it eventually.
Well this is just a pic of 01Coupe's car a few threads down. I feel this ride height looks the best on our civic coupes. I also have a SSM Coupe and I just installed my H&R Sports. The drop for the H&R are rated about the same as the Eibach Pro-kit used in this picture. Also DO NOT cut your springs, you're only asking for trouble.

Where did you get your H&R Sports. How much were they? Do you have a camber? Did you go a DIY or professionally. If so, how much was the installation. Did installing them require nay permanent mods to the car or is it just a straight swap of springs? Thanks

maybe he's talking about cutting the bottom perch as it is said in the gc DIY?
well i personally think the prokit and H&R is still too high. i have neuspeed sports and these are even too high. it depends on what your going for and how much your willing to sacrifice for it. i personally like the slammed/tucked wheels look. i dont mind driving a lil more careful just as long as it looks nice.
but ya, why do you want to lower the car in the first place? only to kill the fender gap? to have a lowered/slammed look? for performance?
my car is a daily driver and only time i have to worry about driving carefully is over speed bumps.
as for camber kit, why not get it now when your going to get it anyways? it depends on the drop tho. so first see what you like then read the suspension faq and that will answer your camber kit question.
oh and i know the H&R or neuspeed sports looks pretty low in pictures but trust me, in person the car doesnt look slammed if thats what your going for. when i first got my springs installed my friends could hardly even tell my car was lowered

I was talking about the perch. Is it necessary to cut the perch? If you don't cut it what is the result. Also, 1955..your link is broken. Can you post it again. Thanks.

your not supposed to cut the perch with springs, if you do what is the spring supposed to sit on. reason why you cut the perch for sleeved coilovers is the part that sit on the bottom perch is much much for narrower then lowering/stock springs... and you cut it so that you have more room to adjust the locking thing.
but ya with springs your not supposed to cut it.

that one?
well thats 01Coupe's with prokit on 215-45-17 tires
reason why the drop looks pretty low is he has some pretty thick tires that take a lil bit more of the fender gap. but ya look how much ground clearance he has, looks almost stock. pretty high if you ask me. my 18s kinda look like that, 1 finger gap all around but still pretty high ground clearance even with neuspeed sports

That's the drop I'm looking for but I have 205/40/17's so I need more than 1 inch. I have 205/40/17's so im look for like 1.5 drop. I'm thinking the Neuspeed Sports but I don't know how low they go. I think 1.5 I'm not concerned with ground clearance. I just want to take away the fender gap because after I get springs, a body kit is on the way. Any springs you can reccomend with those tires so I can get a look like 01coupe's ride. Thanks.

i personally would go with neuspeed sports. it will probably give you like a 2 finger gap(cause you have some pretty tiny tires. i had 1 1/2 finger gap with stock wheels and now i have a 1 finger gap with 215-40-18). when you get a kit your going to have to watch how you drive tho. how much more carefully i dont know but ya i'm sure you have to.
here's my members page remember this is a picture of neuspeed sports with stock LX wheels. 1 1/2 finger gap all around. i know it doesn't look like it has alot of wheel gap but in person it does.
here's more pictures of O1Coupe's ride these are bigger tires then stock wheels. from the picture i'm guessing about 2 - 2 1/2 finger gap

Yeah my ground clearance is still there.. which isn't a bad thing living in Canada But when I took my car into the dealership for servicing, I parked next to a stock civic and it looked significantly lower.. but it definitely doesn't have the slammed look. If someone unaware of the new Civics looked at it, they would probably think it's stock.

215-45-18? why so thick? i have 215-40-18 and they're still fairly on the thick side. with 45s you wont be able to drop much so you would HAVE to get the underbody kit. i have neuspeed sports as well, still have 1 finger gap all around but my ride height still looks pretty high so imma get a kit. but ya 45 is way too thick for 18s. 40 is as big as i would go.
