my springs knocking?
I had this problem too... my tie rod boot riped and was making noise..but after i fixed that ..it still made that poping sound...there is an insert that you can add between the spring and the top plate that gives the spring some grip or better sliding.... check it Energy Suspension I'm buying these because that noise is making me crazy! I'll find the answer!

I got mine fixed no more knocking!! when I took off the strut the top spring mount has maybe 8 tabs hanging down to keep the spring in place, 3 of those were bent down. also the piece that sits inside there (not a bearing but not sure what it is called) it actually rotates is the spring mount, was not sitting in there straight. I dont know what caused the tabs to bend either from the piece not sitting in their straight and the spring popped out causing the tabs to bend or just from the piece not sitting in their right
Okay, so here's a strange problem that I've only just now started to hear. I've got Neuspeed Sport springs with Koni shocks. I've installed everything correctly and have had no problems until now. When travelling relatively slow (3-5 mph) over uneven surfaces (i.e. a rough road, not even large bumps) I've got this rumbling/thud sound coming from the front suspension. It's somehow related to the vertical (up and down) travel of the suspension. I'm on my stock tires for now and have checked every joint associated with the front suspension as well as any mounting points, etc. and have found nothing abnormal. My springs are aligned properly as I carefully followed the Honda shop manual for front suspension installation.
I thought it was the top strut nut but it's cranked down tight. I also thought that maybe I had messed up on re-installing all the suspension pieces but NOPE, it's all correct. Everything's torqued to the manual's specifications. It's starting to **** me off because everything was fine until now. I have had no turning noises, no popping, no rattling, etc. but this noise now is really confusing.
Anyone with this particular issue? I'd like to bounce ideas off of someone to try to fix it.
Thank you,
TJ

Both the upper rubber spring perch insert and the lower coil sleeve are installed. I actually found what I believe to be the cause of this noise. For some reason, even though everything is perfectly aligned, the upper spring cap/plastic bearing piece are not sitting flat up against the top strut mount. One side is and one is not. It looks like this is caused by the void created by the end of the top coil vs. the next coil.
Anyways, I'm going to drive around for a few days to see if I can get it to settle in properly. Otherwise, I'm going to purchase two new rubber spring perch inserts (as recommended in the Honda shop manual anytime new springs are installed).
