lower rear strut bar install.....30 mins, easy!

Thanks to the ppl on this site I got my rear lower strut bar installed in 1/2 hour. At first I was afraid to attempt it myself since the control arm can fall down and is very difficult to get re-aligned so you can get the bolt back in.

The trick is to use a C-clamp to clamp the control arm to the frame so it wont move when you take the bolt out. Super easy install. Just unbolt it, put the strut bar on and bolt it back up.

excellent! i was concerned that the rear control arms would fall out (and most likely on my face) if i installed the rear lower tie bar, but im glad you've found an easy solution. hopefully soon i can get the bar and install it.

btw, did you just jack the car up when you installed your tie bar, or did you have it up on a lift?

OK let me just say i feel dumb for not thinking about the C clamp idea.. I did mine without the clamp and it took me about a half hour a side. but the control arm doesnt go down it goes up to the top if you pull the bolt out I recomend taking the tire off because then the weirght of the wheel doesint fight you either and its then easier to move the control arm.

I had it up on jack stands. Its really easy. It'd be foolish to pay someone to do something this easy...... Of course if you'd like to pay me thats another story.

That C-Clamp idea is awesome, I still have my DC Sports one waiting to go on! Now that motivates me to go work on it

Yeah I defintly recommend removing the tire I did one side of my car with the tire on and one side with it off and the when its off it doesnt fight you as much . The clamp idea is used to hold the swingarm from moving when you pull the bolt out that way you dont have to work as hard to realign the bushings

I didn't remove the tire. I just clamped that sucker on tight and took the bolt out. The control arm didn't move a mm.

Your in toronto right? I can help you with the install if you want. I even have the C-clamp.

It's really easy. I didn't even use a clamp.

All I did was slide a bolt into the hole as the bolt came out the other end. Took only about 15 minutes
