Coilover question!!!
Coilover question!!!
Hey guys, just inspected my car the other day after doing breaks and realized my struts are shot to ****. I've talked to a couple of people and they've told me to slam my car on some coilovers but... im on a budget, I'm a college kid so you already know. I got an EM2 and some people suggested in getting some Raceland Coilovers. What do you guys think? They will probably come out to about 420$ which is around my budget are the raceland coilovers worth it? any feedback would be awesome, thanks!
Re: Coilover question!!!
-_-... oh well. Honestly i don't care, i don't have much funds to work with. Just wanted to maybe drop the car some, but if i gotta spend a pretty penny then **** it.. i'll just get some decent struts to replace the shot out ones that i currently have.

Re: Coilover question!!!
I'm not a rude guy, so I guess I can elaborate now, haha
Here's the gist of what people say about those struts:
Raceland / Rokkor coilvers and made with a low level of quality control and offer little to no warranty or customer protection. Not every set is going to be bad, but they won't last as long as a higher-end brand. There have been a lot of cases of these coilovers failing even under normal driving conditions. These blowout failures are expensive (causing damage to other suspension components) and very dangerous if you loose control of your vehicle when it happens.

Re: Coilover question!!!
But... you can always consider new shocks like Tokico HP Blues in combination with lowering springs or Ground Control coilover sleeves. Those setups are a bit cheaper then a full coilover kit.

Re: Coilover question!!!
I run 50$ eBay coils with stock struts for atleast 6 mons no blow outs yet. Pretty bouncy I wouldn't recommend them for a long period of time but if u want low until u can buy good coilovers like tein, skunk 2 etc then do it. Biggest pain is compressing the spring if your doing it without air tools like I did.

Re: Coilover question!!!
And always always always replace stock struts FIRST if you go lower.
Your OEM struts may last for a long time on lowering springs, but they're still not designed to handle it so it's not worth the risk. Every car is different from another.
But if you save up for good coilveres, you won't have to worry about new shocks or spring compressing tools. Coilovers pretty much remove all the hard work.
