I'm going progress!
I'm going progress!
Can't wait! I'm about to place an order for a full progress coilover!! Just hoping it doesn't take to long for everything to come in. I'm also order Megan LCAs and Megan rear camber kit and ES FRont and rear bushings. I've never had a full setup like this and after tons of research I think it's going to be a perfect setup for my DD. To people who have progress how long did it take to come in? And what is usual prep to the coilover before install? What do I need to pre grease?
Etc.
I'm also ordering all motor mounts and replacing my cam plug that causing a small oil leak. I love ordering parts and waiting for them to come in.

Re: I'm going progress!
cs I or cs II? lol i just ordered my csII coilovers for my 6th gen with the progress rear 22 mm sway and nrg tower bars.
CANT WAIT!

as far as greasing goes i didnt think you needed to do any of that. they come pre assembled so anything needed grease should (theoretically) already have it on. im gonna have a can of PB blast handy though to coat the sway bar and tie rod ends while im there incase i need to remove them on down the road.

Re: I'm going progress!
It's the Progress series one coilover. Did a lot of searching and found the best deal good here's the link. http://www.tunersports.com/progress-...006_p3949.html
Quick question. I was just thinking about the last time I got an alignment that they said one of my rear toes was completely pushed in and that they couldn't do anything about it. But that it would be ok as long as I kept rotating my tires every 3 to 5k miles. I've done what they said and my tires have lasted me almost 2 yrs now and still going strong with plenty of tread left. But since my car is getting lowered will that affect my tires dramatically with the toe being like that? And is there anything I can do to fix it?

Re: I'm going progress!
they don't come pre assembled because this kit usees the stock top hats and upper strut bearings. if you have a 04-05 and maybe 03 you need to order the plastic upper strut bearings from a 2001 and it comes with a small packet of grease and complete instructions. my order from corsport took 4 weeks to ship because they are made to order.

I'm guessing this is how everything comes when it is shipped. Im guessing I have to put everything together and install
Re: I'm going progress!
I bought this kit July 2011 and it took over a month for them to deliver the coilovers because they are made to order. So Progress doesn't stock them they make them as the order comes in. They were not that hard to put together, they come with detailed instructions on how to put them together and what they should look like making it easy to put them together. But, you may have a problem with the rear struts, or atleast you may since the orders are made as they come in, you may not. But I did, and that is with the rear struts, the bottom (where the bolt goes) was to big to fit in the stock slot and I had to grind the sides of the strut hole a little bit to fit in the slot. But other then that everything fit perfect. I like the ride, its not too stiff but definitely noticeably stiffer then stock and the coilovers seem like very reliable coilovers, I have felt some other coilovers and they dont feel so sturdy like these did to me. I am still using stock cambers all around. My car is lowered about 2 inches. I took my car to sears and got an alignment after the install and got no camber problems, but I do have ingalls aftermarket camber kit sitting in my basement if I do decide to lower it more. Something to note is you don't need the front camber for these cars, no matter how low you go, but you will need the adjustable for the rear because after a point your camber will be thrown way off and the stock camber is not adjustable.
All in all, these coilovers were a great buy and other then the rear strut issue I had which wasn't a big deal to me because I have a grinder and how long of anticipation I had to wait for them to make my coilovers and ship them to me(almost got to the point where I thought I had been duped, it really took like a month and a half for them to ship these). I would recommend this coilover system to anyone. Very strong and reliable and looks amazing after they are installed. I do have pictures of when I was installing them. I'll post them up for you to see below. I just recently dropped my car more so the pictures I have are only with about an 1inch drop or so. I didn't measure it.
I drive a 2001 Civic EX Sedan.
before I installed the coilovers

The coilover kit box from progress

Removing the old front struts

Removing the old rear struts

Notice how the bottom of the strut is silver around the bolt hole area because I just shaved it down(normally its all black).

New coilovers installed pictures

Pictures after the coilovers have settled. Again remember this is before I lowered the car even more. So it still looks a little high, but the gap between the wheel and fender is reduced.

Re: I'm going progress!
Actually that is like middle. They could go as high as stock and as low as the ground. The lowest they go is about 1 inch ground clearance dropped all the way. I had them set to about middle setting in those pictures. But, currently I dropped them about another 1 inch from the above pictures. My car is about 2 inches off the ground and they can still go lower. So, the range in height is good.
Re: I'm going progress!
I didn't pick any spring rate. I left it at the stock spring rate that progress provides. That turned out to be good enough for me. You could use a custom spring rate if you want to.
Re: I'm going progress!
i would say 6. Depending on mechanical skill and tools owned! Honestly would get it done by a pro if unsure, cause it can be scary and bolts snap in my case!! Better off paying the extra 200!!
Re: I'm going progress!
i think by spring rate he meant street, super street, or drag only.
edit:
my bad aparently only 6th gens have that option. all 7th gens have the same part number.

Re: I'm going progress!
Well I placed my order a week ago and I got an email a couple of days ago and the coilovers are on back order. So who knows when they will be coming in. But at least Tunersport is offering me a good discount on top of the discounts they already offered me. Now all I have to do is play the waiting game
Re: I'm going progress!
aparently progress makes their kits as the orders come in. ive been waiting 2 weeks so far. no sign yet. but exceterateperformance says they will overnight them once they get them. and they overnighted my sway bar since the coilovers were on backoreder. took about 28 hours to get the sway after the order was placed lol.
Re: I'm going progress!
Ya I'm hoping they can get them in soon. I'm just bummed because I wanted to get them on before I have to move by the end of the moth. But I'm trying to look on the bright side and hopefully I can save enough by the time I get them to maybe get some rims to go with the lowered look. All good things come with time right?
Re: I'm going progress!
Since you've owned these for a couple of yrs. have any had any kind of issues with them? I don't know where you live but I've heard bad stuff about coilovers freezing up in really cold temps if not properly maintained. I'm not really to worried about it though because where I live in dallas it may get below freezing just a few days out of the yr.

Re: I'm going progress!
the first thing i did was paint them with rust proofing paint i also got some universal dust boots and lubed them up really good with anti seize. in the winter months i would pressure wash them after snow storms to clean them off. there in perfect working order
Re: I'm going progress!
Well some more bad news. I got tired of never being able to get an ETA on when they would be ordered. So I called progress myself and ask them when they will be available and she says that they are on back order until the end of April before orders start to be made and shipped. I really want to ask for a refund to order something else. But from what I hear they are worth the wait. But I really don't want to have to wait another 4-5 weeks for them to made when there off back order.
Re: I'm going progress!
gives you time to save and buy other stuff like new lower bushings ball joints camber kits and money for an alignment and maybe new front top mounts and and upper strut bearings.

I just hate waiting
Re: I'm going progress!
So I just got an email and hopefully my coilovers will make it in this week! So I'm about to order the rest of the stuff I'm looking for. But I have a question about ordering the top mounts and bearings. On majestic Honda http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...ER&vinsrch=yes. Are the top mounts I need Illustration 10 and 11? Then I would need two sets of bearings illustration 9 correct? I'm also ordering newer bushings from ES. Might have to start a seperate build thread in the members right as I just picked up an arm v2 intake and then pickup a neuspeed front strut bar on Wednesday if everything works out.
