Rubber Piece Between Springs Torn
so im lowered on s techs with blues and i just noticed not too long ago my front driver side rubber boot with the bump stop are torn. At first it was just the lower half of the rubber boot that was broken off/tore off/ ripped apart/ im not sure but it fell apart. Now when i checked up on it, the upper half is also torn and i think this time it took the bump stops with it. Kinda looked cracked or something. So my question is, should i replace the rubber boot or just leave it? because if i were to replace it i would have to take everything apart, but if its not really useful then i would just leave it. Thanks for any help!

Re: Rubber Boot Torn
You have to take the axle off to replace the boot. Is your axle in good condition? Might want to replace the whole thing. If it is ok, just replace the boot. The grease inside will deteriorate and collect dirt/dust/water from the open cracks, which will wear the part out faster.
Re: Rubber Boot Torn
i have the same thing. while putting together my suspension, the strut fell and tore the boot and almost severed the brake line if i hadnt caught it. got a broken finger out of the deal.

Re: Rubber Boot Torn
oh no no, sorry if i wasnt clear by i dont know the name of the piece of rubber inside the strut. Its like after you put the springs onto the strut, then theres the OEM rubber piece thats your reuse to reassemble the strut. I forgot the name but its that piece thats cracked off with the bump stops

Re: Rubber Piece Between Springs Torn
It should be replaced. Basically what it does is prevent dirt and grime from getting into the inner seals of the strut, which over time will cause it to leak and eventually blow.
