Lca Bushing - Replaceable?
Lca Bushing - Replaceable?
I can find lots of info on LCA bushings for the 01s, but I can't seem to find much on the 5th gens. So...
The bushings on my LCAs are shot. I have checked at Advance Auto Parts and they keep pulling up item "B" in the attached photo. I need item "A". Is this part not replaceable? Or are they just not getting it right?
This is on a '92 Civic LX, 4dr.

i believe item b is the more common compliance bushing and the other one is a second control arm bushing. i dont think advance sells the other one. dealer only. unless you get the ES energy suspension pack that comes with both.

Yes they are replaceable. Get a set of energy suspension for the front, bring them to a shop with a press and have them press out old ones/press in new ones.

Cool! Thanks! I have a press, so I can press out the old ones and press in the new. I just thought it was strange that the parts store didn't have them. I'll get the ES kit. Thanks again!
Re: Lca Bushing - Replaceable?
Well, I had agreed to come look at some parts from a '94 Civic today, so when I got there, the guy asked me what all I was after. The only things that I was really concerned with were some motor mounts to use for cores for the urethane deal, and maybe some LCAs. Well, he had an entire suspension cradle, so I got that. Then we got to talking about what else the car needed, and I mentioned that I might need a halfshaft before too long, but I'm not sure if the slop is due to a bad halfshaft, or something inside the trans. So, he shows me a pair of halfshafts and an auto trans that would drop in in place of mine. He didn't have any motor mounts, but no biggie there. I just broke out the bandsaw and the welder and fabbed up one to try. If it works as planned, I'll make another for the other side. Anyway, I still don't know if I really need a trans, but for $75 for all of it, I hauled it away.
I already replaced both LCAs. The center sleeve in the middle of the bushing fell out of both sides. There's almost no rubber left at all in the driver's side and the passsenger side is not very tight. So, I'll take it out later and see if it made a difference in the steering. (It definitely wanted to wander before. I'm sure it'll be better now, though I may need an alignment.)
Thanks for all the help. I'll probably just press out the bushings on the old LCAs and put some urethane ones in (or make a set) Then when I'm ready, I can just swap them out again.

Re: Lca Bushing - Replaceable?
The parts stores buy what they can get similar to OEM. For instance, if you want to replace the ball joint on 2001-2005, you have to buy the whole knuckle from honda. However, now they sell aftermarket ones that you can have pressed in, but even parts stores still sell the knuckle.
