bought Tein SS's used for 300... sent em out to Tein to get em rebuilt for 395... so all in all spent 695 for a 1500 dollar suspension.. and it works like new

but as far as suspension goes.. people are always complaining about what coilovers blowout.. bs.. all coilovers blowout depending on how low you get and the conditions there driven in

Pheaton, I know this is an older thread, but your past issue is exactly the same position I'm in now.

I have an 03 Civic HX 5spd that I commute 80 miles a day in. Of the 80 miles, 20% is city and 80% is highway. With 126k on the ticker, I've recently changed the timing belt myself and the do all my own maintenance.

I recently got a new set of 195/60R15 Kumho Solus KR21 tires for my Civic, which I must say, are excellent tires for the commuter. After the tires were installed, I had the alignment done. I noticed the passenger side rear tire camber was negative a bit and pointed this out to the alignment shop. They brought it all into spec, but noted that the passenger side rear coil had collapsed a bit, and stated that these Civic coupes coils tend to get tired after 100k miles are put on them.

SO......since I commute in this car, I'm looking for a smooth ride, but I'd like to drop it 1" exactly for a better look and ensure that my camber is correct so my tires will last.


From what I've researched (Thank you Robbclark1 for the excellent FAQ suspension info, I know I need a camber kit), I'm going to need a few parts to do this correctly:

SPC Rear Camber Kit

Shocks (struts)

Coils

So, Pheaton. What did you end up going with, and are you happy with your setup?

Since I commute, I'm looking for a smooth ride that is 1" lower than my stock setup.

Does anybody have any other information related to this kind of setup? I understand that most folks on this board are interested in slamming their Civic and will endure the harsh ride for cornering performance.

I'd like a 1" drop with a nice smooth ride......is this possible?

With a limited budget (finally got the wife's understanding), I'm trying to do the right thing just once.

I almost ordered OEM replacement stuff, but then started looking around this site for what others have done when trying to retain a simple ride and slightly better looks.

i have eibach prokit and tokico HP blue shocks and spc camber kit. its exactly 1 inch drop all around. perfect for normal driving without worrying about scraping or bottoming out. and in the summer the ride is firm but still very smooth. in the winter its a bit rougher cause everything is cold.

Sounds like I am in the same boat at Pheaton as well...
I was looking at ways to make the car handle a little better.
I've pretty much ruled out lowering it due to the average snowfall of 70 inches per year in my hometown of Grand Rapids...
It's looking like sway bars might be the way to go

Confirmed that every 6th gen model except the Si and EX did NOT come with rear sways, did come with front sways (at least the LX, I know for sure)

The rear lower control arms on the Civic LX and EX are the same (checked part numbers at MajesticHonda)

Apparently endlinks are interchangeable for 94-01 Tegs and 92-00 Civics

Since I have the disc setup from an 01 Teg, could I use a factory 01 Teg rear sway bar, or would I have to use one from a Civic EX?
I guess I'm asking which would bolt to the subframe (I plan on getting the ASR brace) properly? or would they both bolt up right?
