what number did you set your dampers on for daily driving with crappy bumpy roads? I was thinking maybe a 3 or 4, but then that might wear our the shocks too much?

I would like to know also. I'm still debating whether to choose Tein SS or the basics.

Re: To TEIN ss users

don't get the S-techs if you have 17 inch rims... it leaves a tight 2 finger drop all around... not enough for the rear IMO.

i'm pretty sure the basics/ss can give you a finger to no finger drop.

my main question is - if you guys set your SS on middle then wouldn't it be better to just get the basics... or would putting the SS on a lower number be a more comfortable ride than the basics.

Re: To TEIN ss users

thanks for suggestion. i been going back and forth between the SS and Basic for months now, and really its just a daily driver and sometimes visit the night races. but thats it. so basic sounds good. but then my friend said S-TECH on TOKICO's ? how's about that setup?

Re: To TEIN ss users

some people swear by s techs and tokicos , others have said they suck.
I have s techs on stock shocks and it's a great ride on smooth streets but if the road gets even a little bit bumpy, i bounce with my car. Handling is improved but I still can't corner really hard. I am very content with the height of the front, but the rear looks too high. I am on 17 inch rims 45 tires and they have started to rub, so I need to get my fenders rolled. I think I'm going to go with Tein Basics.
My biggest concern is are the basics too stiff... and so i should get the SS and set it to really soft... but would setting it to too soft cause it to blow sooner?? At the same time I don't want to waste 300+ dollars if I'm not going to adjust the damper/leave it at the same level as the basics.

Re: To TEIN ss users

I've seen S-techs on our EM2 and honestly I don't like the stance. The rear sits lower than the front. The S-tech will lower the rear about 1.4 inches and the front 1.3 inches...Not low enough for me. I'm in the same boat as kcari. I'm not sure which ones too choose from, the basics or SS? My car is a daily driver and I'm not planning to race it or anything. I'm looking for a low stance about 1 finger gap all around yet with a comfortable ride. Based on some of the opinions I've read, I'm leaning towards the SS because of the ability to adjust the dampening settings. Also, would it be necessary to purchase the pillowball upper mount with the tein SS? Just wondering. More feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: To TEIN ss users

I've been running the SS coilover setup now for three years (stock upper mounts, no pillowballs) and absolutely love them. I run about 3 clicks up in the front and about 5 clicks up in the back and haven't changed this setting in a long time. IMO, if you've got the cash, go with the SS coilovers. Ride height and dampening adjustment is so nice and they ride really well.

What year is your car and did you get a camber kit? Also, what size rims and tires are you running on? I've had 17" rims but I hate the low profile tires. My car isn't lowered and I feel every little bump on the road. I'll be purchasing some 16" rims soon with 205/50/16 tires so at least there would be a bigger sidewall compared to 17" rims I had. Thanks for your opinion.

Car is a 2003 EX and sits on 225/45/17s. Stock camber with no wear issues ever.
