Re: tein basics.

Its always a gamble when buying used suspension. Does this guy have any good rep or has anyone that can vouch for him?

Check for any oil leaking from the shock and if it is rusted or not. If the coilover only has 9K on it, it should look brand new.

Re: tein basics.

ya thats about all you can do. i took the gamble and im happy but i bought used flex that were only on a car for 2 months and it was more of a show car. They look and handle like brand new. Tein usually makes some quality stuff. What do you use your car for??? Cuz basics are really rough on the canadian roads. On my flex i have to set them to the second softest setting for a decent ride.

Re: tein basics.

My ksports only lasted about 25k under hard driving. The rears blew out and I just received the new shocks to rebuild them. I don't know how tein is, but with ksport it is easy to get the parts you need to rebuild the coilovers. Not hard either, especially if you haven't even installed them yet.

Re: tein basics.

25k under hard driving im gettin scared now.... Ksport is very easy to get parts from i needed some of those adapters that change the holes from 16mm to 14mm. Tein told me to call a dealer dealer told me $10 each for a effin washer. I said screw you i called ksport they said $17 shipped with no tax. Very nice people to deal with. I posted that story and eyger sent me the adapters for free cuz hes a very nice guy. But wut do u mean by hard driving??? like year round bumpy roads wut was ur dampening at does it matter??? I want my flex to last forever.

Re: tein basics.

anyways i ended up buying them, there great i got it set to a 1 finger gap all around except the rear is half a finger iuno why but it looks great, handles better to. Does anyone know how low of a drop that is?

I dont track my car i only dd to school, work and to hang out with buddies etc.. I dont drive my car that hard sometimes i'd give it a nice corner here and there just to feel the great cornering but yeah. Thats all i use it for. Oh and its much more comfortable then my stock susp my stocks were bouncy as ****

Re: tein basics.

The only problem with buying used suspension is that you really have no way of telling how hard they've been driven on. The best guess is when you ask them how long they've had them for. If your steering starts to shake, or you hear scrunchy sounds coming from the shocks you might have problems. But if it rides nice and works well, sweet. I've driven hard on my Tein Basics for friggin i donno, 40 thousand miles? I drive like a freakin maniac too, so as long as there's no physical damage to the suspension, I'd say you'll be fine.

hey eyger wut do u mean by a scrunchy sound. Cuz sometimes if theres like a crack in the road and i go over it at i guess around 50+mph i get a little squeaky noise. Is that really bad????????

Re: tein basics.

^ Make sure you greased your pillowball mounts with some white lithium grease.

The sound you are hearing could just be the springs compressing. Oh and check your Swaybar bushings and make sure they are greased as well.

Re: tein basics.

ok ya thanks for that tip. The upper pillowballs werent greased with white lithium but they seem greased and it rotates fine. and i found out what part of the problem is 1 i need an alignment and 2 the guy who briefly had them before me was a total nubcake and he played with the flex way too much and adjusted the stroke on the passenger side and then just made the shock higher so i had to fix that and now i think its pretty much perfect. It doesnt make noise anymore unless i go really fast over a bump which i try not to do anymore. but it rides much smoother now.
